It's not the adapter. It's your car. It powers the usb port even when the car is off.

I went through 3 to 4 of these within a few years, kept dying. A lot of people have issues with it dying within a few months to a year

Remember your car needs to have android auto for this to work. All this does is allow you to do it wirelessly. If your car is not prepped for Android Auto, you need a more expensive retrofit.

Not the OP who mentioned it, but I managed to find a detailed reddit post going over the entire installation process.

I might try this as I have a few 3B's lying around and the wireless AA in my 2021 CT4 constantly complains about wireless interference and disconnects my phone.

I've had this adapter for years, and I park outside in the scorching Texas heat. Mine is still going strong.

Maybe poorly made for heat levels. If you live in a warmer area, all this will get fried. Hot and windows closed, it will die most likely.

I've had mine for about a year plus now. Zero complaints. Works perfectly every time I start the car up. Great price on this.

I bought an unknown brand on Amazon for $20 last year that works better than this one.

Does Hyundai push updates to the vehicle wirelessly (Over The Air), or does it need a USB stick to load updates? The reasons I ask is my Genesis EV got upgraded from wired AA/CarPlay to wireless in an update last month and I got sick of waiting for the update to be downloaded wirelessly so I loaded the new firmware on a USB drive and now I have an adapter that is no longer necessary. I just put my phone on the charging mat, turn the car on and it just works, which is better even than the adapter I had before.
The ioniq 5 does get OTA updates and can be updated with USB too. But unfortunately only 2025 models and up with the ccNC headunit will have wireless capabilities.

Mine died after about two years. My friend's lasted a year. Still cheaper than buying a new car, though. The last time around, I went with another company I found on Amazon and it is faster to pick up and hasn't died, but occasionally seems to cause some sort of hanging in my car's computer that I need to turn the car off for a minute or two to get rid of. Only affects the radio, though.

I've used this for 2 years in my Kia K5 and it's been flawless. It's got a slight delay but that really only matters when watching videos which I rarely do.

I'm on my 3rd one of these. Never last more than a year then they die. Luckly they replace them under warrantly. Also takes about 45 seconds to boot up with my stereo. Might be worth is for $30 bucks but I certainly wouldn't pay more than that for it.

Great deal on a wireless adapter that I have been using in my '22 RAV4, mad I paid $90 for this a few years ago. Works almost flawlessly with both stock and aftermarket head units.
However, even to this day, I get random disconnects (Pixel 7, 8). Typically happens shortly after first connect, but once navigation/music starts playing the connection is stable.

There are a lot of people who say these don't last (myself included). Mine died within a year, so I emailed Motorola, but radio silence from them. I went with AAwireless, only been about 7 months but absolutely no issues yet.

AAWireless releasing a new version in 2 days - from my research it is a much better option
For my fellow slickdealers - early bird order link was just published this morning - grab it if you see it in stock https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DBVMG9Y6 - it won't last

Yea I'm not going to do that. LOL
I'd rather use that time for something else, more productive, like figure out how to accumulate more wealth.

This only works on cars with Android Auto WIRED. Won't work if it's not Android Auto "ready". I've had this and it kept disconnecting from time to time, works well when it does. With that said, there's better brands that I havent had any issues with d/c or connection issues (CarlinKit and AAWireless)
