Has the P747 been discontinued? That model had the best all around design and feature set.
It was discontinued. Which is too bad because it was fantastic. I wanted a second one as a backup, because I do use mines quite regularly, and keep it in a hot car every day, most times laying horizontally instead of upright.
I still need a backup, no matter what, so I will get one of these.

I agree about the benefit of set and forget on this, but a rubber band solves the problem of holding the hair trigger on the old style.
How exactly does that allow you to set and forget it? Let it pump until it explodes?

The reviews are mixed on the accuracy of the pressure gauge. Does anyone here have personal experience with how accurate it is (or isn't)?

Any reason why you'd need both? The combo does this plus more no?
Yes, the combo does both and that is what I will primarily use at home. I use this type on everything from pool toys to bikes to car tires.

I also got the high pressure version in this deal to leave in the car. I really like how compact it is.

Can the PCL031B be used like a compressed air can to clean dust from electronics?

The truth is most tire gauges are not very accurate, even dedicated gauges. Having said that the TPMS in the car showed the same PSI as the Ryobi.

It's been about 5psi off for presta. Schrader seems to be most accurate

Looks like it was replaced with the PCL031, which looks a little more compact, and is also on sale. Might get that one as a backup but my P747 is still chugging along with regular use over the past 4-ish years

The handheld PCL016B. The PCL031B is bulky for cleaning dust.

My original P731 died last weekend, so this is timely. What looks like killed it upon post mortem disassembly is the ring seals around the pump piston eventually turned to flakes/dust, and then the crimp where the high pressure air hose attaches inside the unit failed as well.

I have the Makita DMP181ZX High Pressure unit for $152 from a 3rd party seller. Didn't come with a battery, but it was new in box. I use it to fill the air in my bicycles, it has auto stop. Very fast, something like 15-20 seconds per tire. Thought about getting the XGT model, but that one is nearly double the price of the LXT model.
Neat, so for only 5x more money and from a sketchy 3rd party seller, we can buy the same thing? Cool!

These new style are definitely much better than the old ones as far as convenience. Not even in the same league. I just hope they last longer.
