I have had poor customer service experiences with U.S. Mobile. For example, they lost my number for about 4 weeks during a simple port. The only thing that they did to make up for it was offer me $5 off for a few months. And, they kept bragging about how great their customer service was when they communicated with me. This issue was a pretty big inconvenience for me, and I was surprised at how poorly they handled it (given their supposed reputation for good CS).
I also find that they sneakily raise prices or take away features.
Additionally, their subreddit brigades anyone who raises valid complaints.
I don't trust them as a company and find that their CS cannot handle certain issues with any sense of urgency.

C'mon now, let's be optimistic about it. Let's leave the downing to Debbie. It'll be next week. 🤞🍀

Here are the current standalone providers for Apple Watch after getting setup on an iPhone. Truphone changed to betterroaming. It works fine but I can never login to their website to look at billing, they just take my money. I might switch to us cellular as it's a bit cheaper at $10 a month until this service launches.

Both of our phones are pixel phones and it's working great now. I love being able to switch networks on a whim for travel or situations.
Generally I like the service. Verizon is not oversaturated in our area (east of Seattle) and so everything "just works", which is something that wasn't true with T-Mo postpaid. It is extremely cheap for prioritized access to the towers; between our two lines we pay $26/mo. If you don't need a lot of data - in our case, 6GB spread across two lines - they are very cheap for excellent coverage and servic3e.
I've had off-and-on issues in months where we hit our data limit (which usually happens on the last day of the cycle). Sometimes the renewal doesn't reactivate the data correctly and I need to call them to fix it.
I also don't like the constant plan changes as it makes me re-evaluate my plan twice a year or more. But being on the pooled plans, they've been fairly stable and immune from some of the churn that the unlimited plans have seen.
I did get a watch line this month to try it out. Setup was a complete PITA, they apparently had to register the IMEI with Verizon which took 12 hours. It still didn't work, so we ended up trying a few things with a support agent and finally figured out that network settings had to be reset. Once that happened, everything lit up and worked.
In my experience, support is very good but it's not amazing or anything. For comparison sake, I do find it better than T-Mo's postpaid support. But don't expect white glove service or anything.

USMs reddit team is good, their other customer service is not great.
Lemme tell you AW without a phone is a pain. You have limited use and you have to set it as kid on familly account.
Apple made it so hard and took so many features away that is not worth it to have a stand alone AW.
We just got my 8 year old an Apple Watch w/ Verizon. Pay $15 a month though. I think it used to be $10. Did they grandfather you in? This US Mobile deal is tempting as it's more or less for emergencies, so if I can pay half the price for similar service, I'd consider it.
