Handle is too thin and takes extra effort to hold but even then it's unconfortable.
I'd be interested in travel mug for morning commute and office work at start of day.. but only 12oz? 16oz should be minimum.
I'll just stick to my 5yr old beat-up Contigo mug that keeps my coffee hot for a few hours. I'd probably would've broken an ember travel mug already anyhow... lol
My $.02
Possibly, those color and variant combination was OOS for refurbished ones and so they substitute with brand-new.

First one lasted 3 years so maybe 1000x.
Bought a second retail.
Bought third as spare from woot.
You don't need the app. If you just want it "hot" its already setup.
- I drink my coffee black so no worry about issues with spoons
- I had to use the app to set it up, but I don't believe you need the app afterwards
- I typically have 2 cups of coffee over 4 hours
- I keep the cup at 142deg and mostly sitting on the charger at my desk during this time
This works fine for me. I might try to look for a lid to cover the mug so that I can drop the temp a bit towards extending battery life and trying to be more 'mobile'.For someone who prefers their coffee black and borderline boiling, I found this well worth the price. I just hope it keeps working
80 minute battery life is a joke. I get like 20, maybe 30 minutes. They need to better insulate these cups and put a lid on them, otherwise they just bleed heat too easily. I imagine they determined an 80 minute battery life by pouring boiling hot water into the cup, setting it to the lowest temp, and then claiming it kept that temp until 80 minutes. If you just pour in normal temp coffee and want to keep it 135+ degrees, which I imagine is a typical use case, you will get less than 30 minutes out of it.
App is very beta-like. Constantly says my mug is empty and won't turn on the heat despite it being a full cup. The battery life is totally inconsistent. One minute it will say I have 80% battery, a minute later I have 12% battery.
Product looks nice and I enjoy it when it has a fully battery, but having to keep it tethered to the base constantly for charging ruins the point for me.
