My guess is you'd be better off with the Dexley. They go on sale for around $100 ever so often as well, and much more comfortable IMHO. Also better suited for big/tall ppl.

Mine has the exact same issue. I'm not sure how or when it started, but I have had mine since 2020.
I would call for warranty service, as you're still in the 5 year range. From what I've read, they will send you new parts with little hassle.

Anyone has used these? What's the feedback? Looking for office chair which is comfortable. I am 5ft7in and 170lbs
I feel like it's a moral obligation at this point to warn people away from the Hyken. It's a godawful chair. I bought one in 2016 for $300. I used the Hyken as an office chair for about four years. The piston failed in that time, which I ended up having to replace. The mesh is basically that scratchy material from Better Off Ted.

The worst thing though is that it gives me back problems to sit in it for more than a couple of hours. I would go to work all day, sit in a Herman Miller Mira 2 for eight hours, come home, and sit in this Hyken for up to 2 hours at best, and stand up feeling awful. I'd go to sleep and be miserable.

It wasn't until Covid, and I ended up borrowing my office chair from work, that I realized the source of all my back problems was sitting in my shitty Hyken chair for a couple of hours every day.

I've been sitting all day in this Mira 2 since 2017. Literally never had a problem. It doesn't scratch my legs if I sit in it with shorts on. It doesn't cause me lay on the ground in agony because my back hurts so much. It's so comfortable I reorganized my office space so that I can use this one chair for both my personal and work spaces.

I don't know who they made the Hyken for. Quasimodo maybe.

This is a small chair which is good for my son at 10 year old. And this is definitely too small for me.

Why not just get a Herman Miller Aeron, that's what I have. They only start at around 1200

If you own a Hyken they come with 7 year warranty and their customer service is top notch! I had my arm rest replaced free of charge.

Got mine today, put it together, sat in it for about 30 minutes. Painful to sit in.

Taking it apart, and returning it. It seemed way more comfortable in the store.

The mesh is like sandpaper, and the chair is really awkward to sit in.

Picked one up yesterday and assembled this morning, sitting in it right now. I am 6' 230lbs and would not call this a small chair, it is comfortable for me. When you assemble the arm rests you can adjust the position to have them all way out, which I did, or bring them in more if you are smaller. You have to unscrew to make that adjustment so you can't just press a button.
Some complain about the material but I don't find that to be an issue, maybe having clothes on helps. 🤣
Will probably end up taking the head rest off, not sure I am a fan, might just take some adjustment and playing around with it.

Well, I'm a moron, I bought this, put it together, only to realize the chair I currently have is a Dexley, not a Hyken. I sat in the Hyken after building it and noticed it was smaller and not as roomy. So returned it, and bought the dexley, which has been a good chair. All those gaming chairs with fake leather just tear up after a year. The Dexley lasted 4 years before the hydrolics gave.

The Hyken is more expensive than the Dexley….
