PS, called Ryobi. They told me to register the battery (only) online, and file a Rapid Claim.

Did so, and got the RMA shipping label sent to me by EMAIL.

BE AWARE: the email went to my JUNK folder, but it was sent by Ryobi immediately.

I just got off the phone with Ryobi and a new battery is on its way. Call 800-525-2579, the warranty dept. The number HD gave me was like parts support or something...which I waited for 40 mins to find that out. Warranty line took less than 10 min and offered me the option for a call back. Less than 10 min later I got a call back. Hope this helps somebody.

Got mine today. This thing is very weak. There are three nozzle settings. Rinse is no stronger than a normal garden hose. 15 degree is like a very weak pressure washer that doesn't have enough pressure or volume to clean anything. And Turbo has decent pressure, but such low volume that cleaning anything would take forever. I'll probably keep it, but only for the battery.

I bought 10 of these for our business and gifts so far 1 out of 2 shows bad battery so need to test the other 8, so I can't give them as gifts if battery are not tested unless I open box and test and repackage, looks like I'll be getting on the phone to Ryobi. I did see something on YouTube about resetting The battery so it will charge But need to open it up. Not worth it If still under warranty

I just bought the 18v version of this for$99. I seen this deal and after reading the comments I'm glad I didn't go for the 40v

They told me 14 days. Sent my DOA one back by Fedex today. Will report back when I get the new one back....
That sours me quite a bit. So now I have to go through this hassle of printout out a RMA, boxing it, taking it to FedEx and waiting for a replacement. FFS. You would think you could just take it back to HD and they could swap it with a new 2aH battery.

All my other Ryobi products are 18V and this is the only 40V I would have....considering just taking it back and getting the cheaper 320psi. All I need it for is to wash off my back porch in the summer and the salt off my truck in the winter.

FWIW, they have an 18v 600psi.

Opened mine up today. Battery had 1 bar and was labeled TM24. Charged up no problem. Have yet to use it yet but I am impressed with the build quality and features.

So what's Ryobi's strategy here? They obviously have to know that these all have bad batteries. Hoping that some won't go through the warranty replacement? Seems ridiculous.

When I went to file a claim and initiate a RMA, it said that the battery was made in 2022 and the warranty expires in 2025. Even though I just purchased it yesterday in 2024. So evidently the 3-year battery warranty is from when the battery was made and NOT when the battery was purchased. What a joke.

Yup. I went to file a claim and the warranty on the battery expires next month. It was made in 2021.

Are we sure that's the way it works with Ryobi? I know with a Milwaukee battery when I dealt with a warranty a couple years ago Customer service said if I didn't have a receipt they would have to go from the date of manufacture of the battery. And if I did have the receipt it goes from the date of the receipt.

That would be crazy if Ryobi went from the date of battery even if you had a receipt saying you bought the items yesterday.

All their battery warranty info from their website says from Date of Purchase. Like I said there is no way they would be able to do this. I'm even reading on Redit where people have experienced them denying base on battery manufacturing date but they said I have a receipt, and they end up getting their batteries warranted.

Its date of purchase. Almost no manufacture gets fresh batteries. If your battery is less than 18 months old on anything you buy that has a pack consider yourself lucky. Most cells are precharged to 25-50%, and it might take a year before the cell gets soldered into the pack, and then the time it takes to make the pack and get to the shelf...

What does your serial number start off with?

Tm24 for two of mine. Each had 1 led light up when charging

Seems like the older ones are having the dead battery issue

You are correct. It's date of receipt or date of battery if no receipt.

They received mine yesterday (bad from this deal) and I got notice that they are shipping me something back on the same day. Assuming it's just a new one and not a repair of bad one, but will see.
