They are extremely compatible in rasterisation performance. Certainly if ray tracing interests you then Nvidia does a better job, but at this level of GPU I would not recommend using it at all because of the performance hit. This is a pretty solid deal and would be a fantastic 1080p gaming machine that could also handle 1440p with reduced settings on demanding games.

While Nvidia does a better job at RT, it's not worth enabling RT on a 4060. I wouldn't factor in RT when choosing between Nvidia and AMD until you get to at least the 4070 Super price tier.

I have a M3 Max 40gpu with 64gb ram and although it games better than a 2 year old amd Apu I think we will need a few more multiples of GPU and M editions before it will get close to competing with desktops.
