Discover Credit Card 0.00% APR for 12 Months Via Online Chat Session For Current Card Holders

My Son In Law chatted with Discover online via their chat customer service on their website and asked if he could get a lower APR and they gave him for 12 months for 0.00% APR.

This is perfect time for the holiday season and they even gave it to me as well!

He suggusted I told my other family members about it so I thought I would share it here too.

Good luck all and I hope everyone else gets it too! I am sure not all will be able to get it but worth the try!

Then there's a something else going on with your credit. I was carrying a $25,0000 balance and my score was fluctuating by only plus or minus 8 points on a credit score of 780

I might have to give this a shot. We've used Discover for almost 30 years and pay off the whole thing every month.

The good thing about their benefits is they include a monthly credit score AND the reason for any monthly changes. Sounds like a fun experiment to borrow at zero and get paid 4% from Discover savings Smilie

I've NEVER had an issue with Discover. Maybe the problem isn't them, it's you.

Agreed, Discover is one of only a handful of companies I've never had a big issue with, for decades. Not sure how they do it, but wow. YMMV based on expectations, though -- acceptability still isn't up to Visa/MC levels, and the rewards are thorough but not easily "gamed" like so many cards on SD. They're just really consistent and it's easy to get a human being on the phone, usually in UT or AZ.

There is always an opportunity cost. Not a wise move to put all your purchases on one single card for a year that pays only 1% cashback. You'll earn more valuable rewards if paid by another card. Say 5% CB on rotating categories from other cards. In addition, you are not saving a true 4% on this 0% APR offer since your purchases are not made on day 1 but over the time during the whole year. You'll save less and less when approaching the expiration of the offer. This deal is only good when you have a big purchase coming up.

Side note: Nowadays almost all banks offer free monthly credit score either FICO or VantageScore. AMEX, BofA, Citi, Chase, Wells Fargo, Capital One...you name it.

This is a nice way to get 0% on Amazon purchases during Q4 when Discover pays 5% CB at Amazon (and Target).

Got it on the wife's account too. Again it took about 35 mins to accomplish.

Interested as I have to buy car parts since I hit a deer. Modern cars are over engineered. Friggin adaptive headlights and sensors cost $1000+

Say for example if your comprehensive deductible on your insurance is max 1000 why do it out of pocket?

Yes, because those who supported the ones who caused this inflation can't do math so they live with carpe diem mentality and just spend without budgeting. Then they whine about anything and everything when it's their own fault.

You must lead a pretty sheltered life to think that nobody has a credit card balance. Otherwise you for some reason feel a need to brag. Either reason is pretty stupid.

Probably to avoid hassles and lose the claim-free discounts that most plans offer. I know I'll pay out of pocket up to about double my deductible for that reason. But the larger point is that overcomplicated subassemblies/parts on cars are why insurance is so high. Traffic deaths (non-pedestrian) are hovering near all-time lows while insurance never stops going up.

Not saying we should go back to pre-airbags or whatever, just that a Volvo XC90 headlamp shouldn't approach $2,500 to replace. Each.

Just finished the online chat with Discover. I simply asked them if the 0% apr was for new customers or for current customers as well. I was promoted for 0% APR for 1 year without any credit pull. Thank you again!
what do i say if they ask 'what 0% apr promo are you talking about'?

Sheltered life? No, you don't carry a balance because that's finance 101. What did Suze Orman and Dave Ramsey taught you?
