Are these better or for a different purpose than the mesh [media-amazon.com] style?

Would this work in generic k-cup brewer? I'd assume it should.

Don't buy they are flawed and leak. But the generic plastic or metal mesh ones.

These are trash. You'll have better results using a cheap $10 Walmart coffee maker and paper filter.

The point of using K-Cup is for the convenience of dropping in a pod, press a button and "perfect coffee" at the cost of slightly more expensive coffee for lesser quality and being wasteful to the environment.

Using these reusable pods means you'll have to carefully scoop grounds into the filter, pop it in the K-Cup machine, brew a cup of greasy coffee with grounds due to the lack of paper filter, then you have to wash the damn filter and dry it. It's very annoying to use, I have 2 so I'm speaking from personal experience. If you're going to do all that work for a cup of coffee I would recommend the AeroPress instead
