After doing the $5 sub I didn't see the Skip to Gold under my rewards but it was located on my main page of the Play Store app. Here is a screenshot of what to look for if you can't find it: https://imgur.com/a/iPHD9kR

Once I skipped to gold, the 30% off coupon showed up under Perks when you look at your Play Points by clicking the blue point total on the top of the main page https://imgur.com/a/DKZNsyg

Try using another gmail account and do the same trick. My main acocat had the 3month trial option and i accidentally enabled it. Then i opened my other gmail account and got to the pass for $5 without issues and got the gold deal.

You are correct, its does not directly reduce the phone cost. But i currently am paying $19.99/month for 2TB AI premium, so if I get a year free, then to me, that is $239 less than i would have normally paid.

That is correct, you get $76 credit towards a future order. I am just going to get a case with the credit.

I tried this trick and still had no luck getting it to show up. I had already signed up for Play Points a while ago though. I was able to get the code with a family members account that had not signed up for Play Points yet and did the Play Pass subscription trick to get to Gold level. Worked like a charm.

Yup, its all semantics. I told myself its "costing me" $16 to upgrade to a new phone and case. but my current out of pocket cost is more than that.

You could have just spent the $10 on the 2TB plan and it would have upgraded you to Gold. You didn't need to spend the $5 on the play pass as well.
