Basically just a marketing term

Perhaps the 990 Evo's most unique selling point is that it supports PCIe 5.0, but only with two lanes, which is equivalent to the bandwidth of the four lanes of PCIe 4.0 that it also offers. PCIe 4.0 SSDs work completely fine on PCIe 5.0 slots, so there's technically no advantage for the 990 Evo to support PCIe 5.0, especially when it's not even bottlenecked by its PCIe 4.0 connection.

I'm still not sure how much endurance it will drop without DRAM.

What are the cheapest (DRAMless) nvme drives I can get, for Unifi NVR application? BW shouldn't matter at all, endurance TBW etc a lot

Hmmm. Tempted for the 2TB for my rig. Or I could grab a crucial 4TB for $349. Decisions decisions. My current 1TB is maxed out now but that's over 3 years
Go crucial, well get the larger capacity, as time goes on you'll appreciate not needing to buy another drive until you truly need it. Having the largest capacity that you can afford(i believe is the right choice). I bought the 4tb t705 and t700 for my upcoming builds.

Yeah. You're so right. I'm currently looking at the t700. I'll probably wait out the month and get a deal on something 4tb or pick it up

MSI M682 2TB is still $99.
https://us-store.msi.com/Solid-St...2-2TB-Bulk

It's been recently as low as $89.

You can get a proper "Brand Name" with RAM Nextorage 2TB for $120.

Learn from my mistake, else I'd be using the drives in my old pc in my new one. Unfortunately 1tb & 2tb is not enough...a few games and a couple family events in 4k and before I'm out of space.

$130 for a 2TB PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD is a pretty good deal. I bought a 2TB 990 Pro PCIe 4.0 SSD last year for $144 last year if that means anything.
