All I can add is that Samsung low end tablets are very poor compared to the Chinese competition. They do high end very well though.

Thanks OP! My S6 Tab battery was starting to show some significant degradation and the FE version is pretty much equivalent in processor speed and RAM but has a bigger battery, 2x storage plus I'll get another 4 years of OS upgrades/support. For $130 after trade-in it was a no brainer.

Interesting. The S7FE is worth $300 on trade, but only against the non-edu price of $399. I just need to decide if I want to trade up or hold my S7FE for another year or two. It's like third in line as a backup device, so I'll probably just wait.
Comments like this one is where the value is on Slickdeals. Thanks @overzeetop

Did you place the trade order?

I have the edu discount, which knocked an extra $20 off, but I'm trading my s7FE for the s9FE+. Total pre-tax was $159.99. For me, I had the lower 4gb ram/64gb version, and the fact they treated that as the full $300 trade was super nice. Upping to 8gb Ram along with the higher 90hz refresh rate are a huge plus imo. Not to mention, I doubt s7fe will continue to get solid trade-in deals for much longer.

To get the s7fe trade-in with edu just add to cart s9fe with trade-in as logged out user and login after added to cart.

I did! After .edu discount, it came out to $159.99 for the s9FE+ w/8gb of ram

*EDIT* looks like it's like $161.99 now with the trade-in and edu discount....idk why they would arbitrarily take $2 off the edu discount like that.

I know this is about the 9FE but if you buy a 10 and I just got the 10 plus yesterday through my work discount and got $105 off plus a free memory upgrade the 512 for the 256 price and they have a promotion going on for trade-ins under other $300. I am sending back a very very old Asus Transformer today and they said as long as it works and powers up and doesn't have a cracked screen I will get $300. I also got 10% cash back from an app. It's still not this deal but I was also looking at the S9FE plus at also in the beginning until I found out about the other tablet deal for $300 off.

For those with the S6, the S9FE may not be a major upgrade and worth the $130 extra. The Snapdragon 855 (from 2019) in the S6 has comparable Antutu and Geekbench scrores to the Exynos 1380 (from 2023) that is in the S9FE. The AMOLED screen on the 855 is a sharper than the LCD screen of the S9FE. The S9FE will benefit from the longer security updates as Samsung has stopped providing security updates for the Tab S6.

Could you recommend a cheap, decent tablet I may be able to pick up for my kids around $100?

The OLED screen is what's keeping me. If they had a deal like this for the S9, I would do it.

Yeah going to the S9FE from the S6 (non-Lite) seems like a downgrade. And for that reason, I am out.

Wondering the same. The 2020 is slooooow.
I don't see why it would matter. That's Samsung's fault for naming a new version the same as the old version. They only give one option to select.
