I think the real deal is that this is supposedly a free smart phone service provided to survivors of human trafficking and domestic violence. Free phone service forever seems like a way better deal than 3 months of Prime for only new members.

Yes, but getting yourself trafficked just to get lifetime free phone service doesn't seem that slick. Seems like the juice wouldn't be worth the squeeze by about a country mile.
Safelink is a wireless reseller for the Lifeline phone service for low income individuals. If you already have Prime, they are not going to let you add this for free. It's an incentive for low income people to sign up for discounted Prime membership. (If you have an EBT card, you can already get discounted Prime. This just gives you three free months if you are low income AND a customer of Safelink.)

No, it's not. Safelink provides free service and cheap phones to low income people who can't afford it otherwise. The service is a lifeline to people who are homeless, elderly, or struggling to get by. You have to be a welfare recipient to qualify and must recertify every year. It's not a great service and the phones are pretty bad, but it's free.

I'm on a month-to-month Prime Account, if I cancel my account, then would I be able to redeem the code?
The website says "New Prime customers only", but sometimes those codes work?
EDIT: On second thought, not sure if I know how much or 'free' this safelinkwireless service is, might avoid.
