I got the WorkPro Quantum 9000 from Office Depot and honestly, I think it blows all cheap chairs out of the water. I can sit in it for 8+ hours without and problems. After cashback and gift card, I think I ended up getting it for ~$250 either last year or the year before that. It is worth it. You could even get used Herman Miller Aeron for that price depending on where you live. Overall, I think it's the only chair that comes close to the ~$1000 chairs you find at workplaces without having to do the used route.

I think spending an extra $150-$200 on a task chair is worth it, especially if you WFH/hybrid or shoot even spend a lot of your personal time sitting in front of a screen. I regret spending years with a horrible chair that likely caused lower back pain on my right side.

Obviously, it's not a one size fits all deal with chairs. If you need to spend 1-2 hours in a chair then it might not be worth the extra cost, but personally even in those limited situations, I think cheap chairs can cause long term back problems.

How comfortable is this chair? Does it compare to an Aeron?
No, not at all. It's ok, like worth it for a budget chair, but it's made of cheap plastic, squeaks a lot, and isn't all that comfortable… there's a reason a 1k chair is 1k

Had the chair for 7 months and the seat was coming apart. I paid for insurance ($40) to cover any issues and when I put in a claim, they sent me a check for the price of the chair so i basically paid $40 for 7 months I used the chair and lost out.
Why did you pay for the insurance when this chair has 5-year warranty?

Hell no. I hate this chair. It gave me back pains for years. I was in agony every time I got up from it. I work from home and I'm a giant nerd so I probably spend 10 hours in my chair most days. I got my HM Mira 2 for free several years ago and it's still like new. Way, way more comfortable. If I had to buy a new chair I'd buy a Mira 2 or an Aeron retail at this point, but you can get them at half price gently used from office supply shops.

If you sit in your office chair more than 2 hours at a time invest in a good chair.

Had the Hyken in Red for a few years now. Holding up well, no issues, lasted through Covid and then some. May grab another.

I have this. Poor quality. If you are sitting for many hours a day, your body deserves much better.

Got a refurbished Steelcase Leap V2 for $500 from a local office store 4 years ago. Best investment for my body that I made then. Next best was the treadmill this year because I was too comfortable in that chair 😂

Did you have problems with the foam seat cushion getting worse over time?

Not even close. But the Hyken is a budget friendly chair that's just OKAY. I owned one for 2 years and replaced the mesh seat twice. Ymmv

I got this last time it was on sale. Like many have said the headrest position can be uncomfortable depending on your height. I'm 5'7" and it dug into my shoulders a bit.(There is a mod you can look up on YouTube to add about an inch in height) I also did not like the upright position as it seemed to lean just a bit too forward. Despite this however I think the price is very good. It would be very difficult to find a comparable chair near this price point.
