soldered ram. no additional RAM slot. meaning you're stuck with 8GB. I'd pass on this one.

Is it that bad of a processor they have to put it in Windows S mode to start? Seems like all the low end windows computer I have bought came in windows S. It's easy to take it out of S mode but it makes a person suspicious when it comes in S mode

There is no reason whatsoever to pass on this laptop if anyone is in thr market for a laptop with these specs. It's Chromebook priced, but more powerful than a Chromebook. This laptop DOES NOT need more than 8gb of ram, because it's not powerful enough to do anything that needs much ram.Its a great laptop for basic use, and the price is great for what it is as well.
Compared the CPU in this to the one in the $165 (refurbished) Chromebook I bought a month ago, and this is slower and running Windows which means it's going to feel even slower. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/comp...l-i3-1215U
If it's really too slow to do much of anything useful, why not just get a Chromebook at that point? Especially if you're just using it to surf the web and consume media.

Some considerations:
1. 8GB RAM is less than ideal ,AND it's soldered (ughh)
2. a Ryzen 5 7520U looks like a big number, but in reality it's an extremely underpowered chip. The 2 in 7520U stands for Zen 2 architecture, which was released back in 2019, 5 years ago.
3. Some reviews mentioned it comes with Windows 11S, which is a restricted version of Windows that can only use select apps from the Windows App Store. I think it's possible to turn off the S mode, but it's another extra step.
Unless it's only used for a few tabs web-browsing/GDocs, the experience is probably going to suck. It's always better to buy used at this price point than brand new
The 7520u was released in September 2022 and came out on laptops in 2023. It has better benchmarks than my current I5 9th gen laptop which is fast enough for me.

I'm so tempted. This will be strictly used to connect it to my mother's HDTV and stream my large movie library, which I have on file.

I'm not sure if I'll get a better deal on BF.

Thoughts?

The chip itself is new (sorta, marginally) but the architecture was a bit older than that like I mentioned 2019, and AMD has strided quite a bit forward especially with Zen 3 and 4, so it's a dated chip from multiple perspectives.
