Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

So I assume a new Verizon phone is taken out of the box and activated in T-Mobile esim ..you expect it will be unlocked automatically after 60days even if it's not activated at Verizon network at the very first start? Are you sure about this?
If you don't deactivate/cancel before you get the phone, it will activate and lock on the Verizon esim already on the phone when you turn it on. You can then wait 60 days for the unlock (not sure if it has to be active all 60 days). If you cancel before you get the phone the verizon esim won't be able to activate and the phone won't lock onto Verizon. You can then activate somewhere else, although the phone will be locked to that service and be on that service's unlock policy. Safest bet, imo, is the activate with either Verizon or ATT, as worse case the phone can be unlocked in 60 days.

It seems that if you cancel before receiving the phone and turn it on with a different service (ATT, Tmobile, rather than the original Verizon), you can use the phone on the other service, but you still have to go back to Verizon for unlock. That is what I learned from this thread. Please correct me if I am wrong. So confused and scared now because I just received my phone today, 2 days after cancelling Verizon service.

That's why I am waiting for you to report back on your H20 try.

Not true. Again the WM phones are flex-locked. They will lock onto the first activation. I'll report back on success of the H2o esim > esim transfer to unlocked phone > ATT unlock process tomorrow. No reason to be "scared", if you cancelled it won't lock to Verizon. My phone would not have been able to use the H20 sim today if it had been sim-locked to Verizon. You can still activate it anywhere.

If you have cancelled your Verizon service then your best bet is to activate it with ATT and try SIM swap as mentioned in the wiki. If that does not work, you can still request unlock after 60 days (even without an active ATT account). If you are not willing to get an ATT account or don't have one, you might want to do it with H2O but it will be best to wait. ATT (and H2O) SIM swap has been working with physical sims, I don't know how well it works with eSIMs

Any one able to create an account and link services without a pin? I can't do anything without linking the phone first to the account and I didn't have to create a pin when placing my order.

Hey ProudToBeAnIndian,Firstly, thanks a lot for posting awesome deals and this iPhone 14 deal is awesome too. I needed your help to understand the balance payment process after we disconnected the line and I am doing this for the first time. For me, the last bill(Oct 14, 2024 - Nov 13, 2024) shows around $123 due on 11/11/2024. I purchased the phone on 11/12/2024. The next bill(Nov 20) shows -$63.17. My questions are - 1. when the next bill comes tomorrow, will the overall price be adjusted i.e., 123 - 63 = 60$. 2. Will the next bill come in mail and I can pay online and be done with all the pending charges? 3. Anything else to consider or take care of?
Same as me! I ordered the phone on 11/12/2024, received the phone on 11/18/24 and paid off, disconnected line on 11/18/24 too. I also needed to help to understand the balance payment process after we disconnected the line.

Having a similar issue - trying to link the new line of service on a new Verizon account, but need the full account number or the newly issued phone number - neither of which I have. Have spent way too long on the phone with Verizon and Walmart trying to get either it with no luck. Anyone have ideas? I am sure it was in the agreement I signed when checking out through Walmart and selecting my plan, but I didn't receive a copy of any of those documents. My plan is to go ahead and make the account (once I figure this out), so I can pay off the phone before it arrives on Thursday (subsequently then activating it with a Tmobile sim instead of locking it to Verizon).

With so many messages, I am so confused now. Paid off verizon phone, shall I cancel the service now? Today is the third day.

If not, I shall turn on the phone, then request to cancel the plan and pay the activation fee.

If I do, what shall I do after I receive the phone? I am using mint mobile with a physical card now.

I appreciate your advice.

Thanks.

Yes, that's how it usually works. MVNO does work but some may not allow like Visible refused to do it, perhaps it have strong ties with Verizon as it their own subsidiary.
Yes, I have activated VZ iphone 14, and closed the line on the third day of activation. I have a Xfinity physical sim, wondering if I can convert Xfinity sim to VZ iphone 14's 2nd esim, and still keep the original VZ esim(closed line). If this works, will the VZ iphone still unlock after 60 days?

For those who canceled the service before receiving your phone, could you share what you did with the phone? Did you encounter any issues? Thank you!

Thanks for your info.

Since this phone doesn't have a sim card, can an esim card be tranferred to this phone after turning it on ?

If so, does anyone know if it will work on Mint mobile ? Will mint mobile help unlock the phone ?

Thanks.

These WM phones don't arrive sim-locked. They lock to the first service you activate it with. Take it out of the box and activate it with a sim from somewhere else. It will lock to that service but would be much more than a paperweight.

Hello, any new Verizon customers there?

Looks like there is no way to pay off the phone.

Only the monthly charge + activation fee are shown up in the online account, no $299 device payment.

Call the 1800 number in wiki and the bot always sent a link via text, which says the device is paid off.

Anyone has a similar experience?

Can we cancel the service without paying it off?

From my very bad personal experience . I want you to all know that there's many misleading posts here.If you're a new Verizon customer. You won't be able to buy this phone off Before 30 days!
Don't buy it if you're a new customer!

Yet plenty of people have posted to this thread being new Verizon customers and been able to successfully pay this phone off within days of ordering/getting it.
