Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

Can anyone who paid it off with Verizon and disconnected line before they received it confirm if the device was activated and/or if the unlock timer was started?

Fedex, which you would expect to be better about these things.
I've been posting on X and they reached out to me but still getting no where as far as getting my line canceled with AT&T.
Been a mess so far which a lot of wasted time.
I am sure eventually they will sort it out for you, but it will be a messy waiting process because you will have to deal with both Walmart (they can only refund the sales tax) and Verizon which will have to cancel everything. Walmart and Verizon don't always coordinate/communicate well for these joint deals, alas, but it will work out. Can you try to ask for a replacement, instead of refund, so you can still get the deal, belatedly?

If you cancel before receipt, by definition the device is not activated yet.

Assuming 6% tax:iPhone 15 128 - $650 + $39 tax - $500 GG = $189iPhone 15 256 - $750 + $45 tax - $500 GC = $295Plus 3 days of service (about $7-$10) to avoid activation fee. Deal is better assuming you treat the GC as cash which some won't.No details for trade AFAIK but shouldn't matter for the purpose of this deal. Even if you add a line of service, you may get a better deal that way.In my case, no regrets on doing the 14s as I needed the phones to be unlocked by mid January
How are you guys considering the Walmart egift card as "cash"? I thought the gift cards can only be used at Walmart stores? You can't use it to pay verizon iPhone off then, right? What am I missing here

Does anyone know if Walmart deal on 25th Nov will trigger the GC, the moment it ships and we can cancel the line after receiving it? In terms it is mentioned that "eGift card is sent via email within 24 hours of phone activation for in-store purchases & within 20 days after phone shipment for online purchases." Does this mean, while ordering online it is safe to cancel the line after receiving the phone as it will be sent irrespective of what we do with the line?

That would be a a nice price, but I am only seeing a $350 gift card for the iPhone 15 125GB models. The $500 gift card is for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which will cost $1111.98 ($29.24 x 36 months plus 6% sales tax) with your tax - $500 GC = $611.98 plus any activation and/or line fees.
Please feel free to correct me if I've missed something.
Oh - this is not what was showing the other day. No longer a deal..

worked incredibly well for me. Just follow the wiki, I got the phone, activated it, got verified with apple, paid off phone and disconnected and unlocked the phone with Verizon. All done within 2 hours. Now I need to figure out how to either trade in or flip it and make little more money for all the efforts, should have bought 2, now the price is doubled.
Lol - I wrote the wiki.. YMMV with getting an early unlock by Verizon. In my case, I was not able to even though they claimed they would be unlocked after 5 days.

Oh no, I am so sorry. What carrier did you have? Mine was Lasership. They just left it on the porch without even bothering to ring the doorbell for signature. We were all inside the house at the time.
FedEx dropped them off too - they signed them.

I got a nice chick on the chat. The same call I was able to unlock and disconnect. My sim says locked but rep told me it is esim and she said rest assured you can take your phone anywhere you want. Does anyone know how to verify this that this phone will work with any provider? I can see the line has been disconnected in Verizon. Will remove the credit card from verizon after todays device payoff payment goes through. She waived $35 activation also. Waiting for 2 phone from straighttalk to see how they pan out.
So you're still locked - AFAIK, you can't have a SIM locked but not the eSIM.

Yes - That said, the deal is different now. It seems the GC value depends on the iPhone model, so no longer worth it.

I did not pay them off before receiving the phones. But they were activated by Verizon when they shipped. I paid off when I got them and cancelled the lines that same day. Paid for 2 days of service.

Your wiki is still correct. I had to call tier 2 and they said they are submitting a ticket for early unlock. The rep who told me it was unlocked didnt know it. The standard unlock policy is 60 days.

Called the customer support. They unlocked the phone for me but I don't see it reflected.
