I have this circular saw, it's really great for the price. I'm glad to see it comes with the 4 amp battery, it doesn't do well with the 2.

It is under powered with the 2 ah?

Yes, there's not an insane difference between the two, but it is definitely noticeable. What I've encountered with this same saw is that using it with a 2ah battery vs 4ah is that it seems drain the 2ah way more quickly. It probably has something to do with the density or capacity of the cells used in the battery, but I'd have to look that up to know for sure. It just seems like the 4ah battery gives you a more consistent sustained power vs the 2ah. If that makes sense.

It must be the quality of the cells in the 4 ah vs the 2 ah since more amps should really just mean that the battery should just last longer per charge.

I have a ryboi brad nailer and it is kinda heavy so I was thinking of using a 2 ah instead of a 4 ah. I read online that someone was saying that when he puts in a 1.5 ah it seems to jam more often, which makes no sense.

Thanks for the explanation

Are these batteries cross compatible with any other brands? I want to bite but already have 3 other style batteries I juggle.

It's 24 volts so it's not compatible with most other brands.

I have one of these and it works good with a 4ah battery. If I remember correctly it has a depth of cut comparable to a 7.25".

It's smaller and lighter so easier to use without any of the drawbacks of a smaller saw.

It's a great deal with the battery and charger.

Mods it's not "4amp", just remove that part entirely. The rest of the title makes it clear. If you want the battery capacity next to the voltage change it to 24v w/4ah battery

More "amps" makes a all the difference, and a higher capacity, assuming the same cells are used, basically means the voltage drops much later in time, allowing peak performance longer so when the inrush current or the current demand in general surges there's still capacity there to draw from, whereas a lower capacity battery's voltage will begin dropping sooner and the max wattage the tool draws along with it.

I know you were referring to amp hours specifically when you said "amps" here and not actual amps but it's relevant so figured it was worth replying

Edit: also yes there's a decent chance the 2ah battery uses 18650 cells vs the higher draw 21700 cells in the 4ah, I can't state that w/certainty as I don't recall but it's often the case

Actually there is a store on Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/shop/3DPrintedAdapters ) that sells adapters for all different combinations. I got one for kobalt battery to Milwaukee and it works for most tools. Power seems to be very good since you are starting from 24v and if it drops to 18v under load, that is still higher volts than if you started from 20v. Torquetestchannel did a similar test but with 24v flex batteries. Kobalt and flex are both made by chevron.

I think the nominal voltage for kobalt 24v is 21.6v and the 20v ones from other brands drop to 18v.

Also, I'd guess they put 6 cells in series to get to 24v. To double the ah, they probably put another set of six in parallel with the first, meaning potentially lower effective resistance/more current from battery to tool.

I didn't know I can buy Kobalt and Flex tools at my local Chevron gas station

Chervon, not Chevron.
