This specific motherboard is deceptive in name and does not actually have a b550 chipset, despite the name.

A normal B550 motherboard can overclock the processor. I'm not saying that it is a bad motherboard. Just to make people aware. Realistically, most people will be fine with it... Your cpu will act normal, with turbo, etc... You just can't overclock it.

Scroll to the bottom and check the chipset info for overclocking.

Both of these boards don't have a USB-C front header so if your case has USBC, you won't be able to use it.

The Montech X3 Mesh for $50-60 off that big online store.
It has 6 fans, moves a ton of air, but won't sync with your RGB and has other limitations making it a solid performance/price combo for cheap builds.
I'll check it out, thanks!

Thoughts on the Gigabyte B550M K instead? Same price as the Pro4
I don't have any personal experience with it. From Newegg reviews it seems to have a fairly high failure rate, so I'd stress test it during the return window. It is also a part of a different Newegg bundle, unless you were planning to get it elsewhere.

I have the launch Ryzen 1700x paired with 16gb's and it's still going strong. I don't game on the PC but am a programmer and use it as a local plex server. Is this a worthwhile upgrade? I do mainly web development and dabble in game dev. I've never considered anything I do to be demanding and my PC has never struggled.

The TLDR is yes, the 5700X is a massively worthwhile upgrade over the 1700X.

The long answer is a bit more complicated. The 5700X can do all your current work in roughly half the time while also using about 30% less power in the process. The 5700X IPC is roughly double what the 1700X. Doubling your ram is never a bad thing in my eyes. So it just depends on how much you value reduced power consumption and wait time for tasks to complete. You could also have TWO machines. Keep your 1700X system and then run the 5700X system as your new main system?

No integrated graphics? What would be a budget way to add graphics to this? I'm using it for a NAS setup but I want to keep a monitor on it with ubuntu and a GUI. Otherwise the 550M Pro fits all my needs with its 6 SATA3 ports plus dual M.2 slots.

If i will use this on my regular desktop case, is it better to just buy regular size MB versus these micro options I see here (for $69/$79)? I also realized none of these have wifi capabilities.
Is the better option to Buy the CPU+RAM combo here and get another normal size MB later?

If your case supports ATX, it's better to go with ATX board. The smaller sizes usually have more limited capability, let alone you loose out on it's main benefit, smaller size case.

That said, if you're buying a 5700x, you're not exactly going cutting edge here so I doubt expansion is that big of a deal to you that it matter. This is a good deal and I wouldn't bother waiting for another board, especially as these are being clearances out at this point. There may be no board available later to even get a sale, and you might have eto go second hand.

For instance, I want mini-ITX board (as I have a small form factor case), but there's barely any in-stock option on those, and prices are spiking.

In other words, in this price range, don't worry too much about too much upgrade options. By the time you upgrade again, you're likely onto a new technology that makes this obsolete.

I have a Ryzen 1600x with an ASROCK B350 board.
B350 [asrock.com]

Is it worth upgrading the CPU and motherboard? or just the CPU?
Is it even possible to upgrade the CPU on my B350 board?

More m.2 and slots for expansion, 1 m.2 is pretty stingy
