You can bring your phone number during activation.
You can move the service to a different phone by purchasing a Tracfone SIM kit [bestbuy.com] after you activate the line.

It'll be a learning opportunity for him, and hopefully the data limit will keep him off excessive gaming and videos. If he breaks it he'll be without while he works his way through the insurance claim.
Don't forget, it's 5% back PayPal quarter of you have the Chase Freedom Flex!
Thanks OP!
And I don't believe it's possible to get a second GV number without another cell number to link to it?

If I don't care about unlimited talk/text + 24 GB data, isn't it a better phone than A15?
Can this phone be unlocked after 60 days? ( this is important for me)
Am I missing anything here?
Sim needs to be activated in phone to get plan/qualify for unlock & is registered to phone, sim swap is not recommended. If you want to move plan to an unlocked phone need to use a BYOP sim.
TIA

If I activate the service on the A15, how soon could I transfer the service over to my existing phone? Would I have to keep the A15 going for the 60 days to unlock it and then be able to do the transfer?
Any other scenarios?

To use the the 1-year service from this deal, you can DIY transfer the existing service/phone # to A15 (activate A15 by keeping existing phone number; requires a text verification code to current phone), then transfer back to your current phone (requires a text verification code to A15). The safest is to wait 60 days for A15 to unlock before transferring back to current phone. If you want to take some risk, wait a few hours or a day or two, and transfer back to your current phone. keep A15 in a drawer and it should automatically be unlocked in 60 days (nothing is guaranteed with Tracfone!)
Also I've never had any problems using these deals for years except the time I had to contact customer service and it was so bad they gave me extra data for the trouble.
