If you need a box of these, spend the extra $4 and get one that you can just put new blades in that is comfortable to use.

for the utility knife connoisseur, only the Stanley FatMax will do.

Is this better than the one from HarborFreight at $2.29?

Olfa's what I would recommend over this. You can get the Olfa 9mm utility knives at around this price. I have the NA-1 - super comfortable to handle https://a.co/d/5xUuPq4 , SVR-2 - This is one sleek utility knife https://a.co/d/33fcy8c, and SAC-1 - more for crafting https://a.co/d/4e9HgDC and they are all in the $8+ range.

Yes I know, this deal is for 18 mm and not 9mm.

Going to 18mm, I would recommend either LA-X https://a.co/d/dkdLlX7 or L-5 https://a.co/d/iz340Od depending on your preference on the lock type. Both are around $11-$13. That pick at the end is so freaking useful. If you don't need the pick, you can get L-1 for $7.39 https://a.co/d/11C0YBT

I also have the 25mm NH-1 https://a.co/d/0J1rIHI. In addition, you can get saw blades for the 25mm utility knife https://a.co/d/g4gUgmm. It's amazing to have that to do quick sawing work like cutting dowels, etc.

In addition, I replaced all of the standard stainless steel blades with their black carbon blades which is I kid you not, deadly sharp. In fact, please don't slice part of your finger off.

I know I'm waxing lyrical about utility knives but man... Olfa's the jam! I have to stop myself from buying every single knife that they have (there are some Japan exclusives) and pretty much stopped using my other types of utility knives after I found Olfa. The ability to have a fresh blade by snapping the current blade? *chef's kiss

It is "better" in the sense that it feels more hefty, but in actual usage, 0 difference.

If you have a Daiso near you, they have a big selection for $1.75 each and also cheap blades. Western brands are too expensive for disposables.

*edit: grammar

LOL I mean... maybe? I like sharp kitchen knives too but that's for another thread/deal.

I wanted to remove the label at the back of my fleece jacket this evening and ended up using my LA-X as a seam ripper. And it worked fine.

The body on the dewalt is metal and is quite durable. I've used the 25mm variant daily in construction for years. They dont break. The only time i've had to replace one is when I loose it. Most of the other alternative options here are plastic garbage. The dewalt also has the most intuitive retract button..Olfa does make the best replacement blades.

Another Olfa fan here. The chinese lights have so much wiggle in them. The craftmanship of Olfa is great. Japan.
