Electronics will be getting more expensive when the tarriffs of the next US administration. Keep that in mind before deciding whether to purchase.

BestBuy has a tendency to put out one of these drives on deal (ie: $250 for this one), so people rush out and buy it.. only to drop the price on another drive later on (like 18TB for $179, or 22TB for $229). My guess is that they try to get a higher sale out of these initial offers and then scoop up some additional sales of better-discounted versions in the coming weeks.

This is more of just a heads-up that if you buy this you might want to hang onto the packaging/box in case a better deal comes up and you end up doing an exchange.

Careful with enterprise drives if your NAS/DAS isn't tucked away somewhere that you can't hear or see it. Enterprise drives tend to be much louder than commercial/consumer drives.
Thanks for the heads up! The NAS is literally sitting right next to me on a shelf... Smilie

Just grabbed a 16tb refurb @ ~$10/tb....

$12.50/tb for new is pretty good tho. I wonder when a crop of these refurbs will hit ebay at $10/tb tho, too.

The drives are made in Thailand so they will be subject to 20% tariffs.

20TB Elements was $280 more than 1.5 years ago. It should be way cheaper than $250 at this point:https://slickdeals.net/f/16549645-20tb-wd-elements-usb-3-0-external-desktop-hard-drive-280-free-s-h?v=1
Prices are like that across the board on hard drives right now. Just the way it is.

I just bought one as a backup plan but really hoping to see a better deal come BF or CM. If not I might not even keep this, but I know if I wait to think about it then they'll be gone. I was going to pickup in store, but the tax was $5 less by shipping it -- we will see how it's packaged.

Just to clarify, you're saying the tariffs WILL likely hit HDDs?

Can you do multiple orders in a day (three drives per order) or will have you have to wait? Last year I think I had to wait one day or they'd cancel.

They could/should throw Plus & Total members a bone here with an additional $25 or $50 off, I'm not overly impressed

Yes, these are easily shuckable to put in a NAS, PC, etc. Inside are "white label" drives, which are basically the same thing as WD Reds, just firmware locked to be slightly slower.
that's perfect. likely lower thermals too. i need these for archiving, not performance.
