Just a heads up. Best Buy will install this (front + back cameras) for $99. The dash cam can be purchased anywhere, it doesn't have to be from Best Buy.

Great camera. Put one in my wife's car.

Got a new model for my car, DroneXC. Dash cam that live streams the video to my cell phone via 5G. So if the alarm goes off, it alerts me and I can pull up live video. The video is also automatically stored in the cloud. So if the entire car is stolen or they steal the dash cam, you'll still have the footage. Tracks the car via GPS too.

Yes, it's more expensive, but dope af.

Ordered the A119. Lowest price ever. Thanks iconian! Just in time as a friend just bought a new car. I've been using 1080P dash cams from Aukey and Yi in the $40-$50 range purchased in 2019 and they've worked flawlessly. Police officer ruled in my favor and wrote up the report favorably for a rear-end collision. I didn't even have a rear dash cam module, but he noticed the impact in the front-facing model I had. In another car, the police officer saw footage of two cars displaying road rage. One of the cars side-swiped my car and the police immediately ruled in my favor and wrote up reckless driving tickets for the two idiots. Every once in a while, check the camera to see that it's working, and reformat the MicroSD card once a month, and you'll be good to go. The dash cam market has caught on its popularity and they have jacked up their prices. A $40-$50 model will work just as well as a $200 model. You're paying for bells and whistles for the $200+ models in my humble opinion. The only reason why I spent more for the A119 is my friend wanted the name brand at the lowest price.

Do any of these come with hardwire kits or do those have to be purchased seperately?
I see bundles that include the hardware kit with higher price but below is the kit you can add

Does the cam or car model matter?

I have a dual chan blackvue to get installed on my Tesla MX. Almost want to DIY it. But for $99 not bad

For parking monitoring, does it only save recordings for motion and hits? I would really prefer if it did not save every second for when parked.

I really want to buy the A229 pro but that YouTube video of the camera failing to record at collision is making me hesitate now.

Do the mallet test on it when you get it.

I pulled the trigger on it. I'm trying to understand how that impact test using a mallet represents real life. Did the dashcam fall and hit something during the crash? I plan to try an impact test of some sort that isn't destructive before I install mine but definitely won't be hitting it the way the YouTuber did. The screen eventually broke after he did it a couple times.

The reviews have dropped low on these since last time i checked. Not sure I'd chance it. I have 129 duo plus and it's been good so far but went with another dash cam for my other vehicle

Are these made in China? Privacy concerns of driving data housed in Chinese Cloud? Assuming Chinese will be able to access driving patterns/routine, voice recordings and home footage of the outside of one's house...

Edit: While we are at it, why not help nation states build detailed maps with images of our neighborhoods Smilie. (Go for thumbs down if you want to - lol)
Omg who tf cares. No one gives a shit about your driving patterns or what time you take a dump each morning. You're a nobody

Any one installed these dashcams on Tesla Model Y? I heard Sentry and Dashcam is not enough, but hard to decide which one to buy fora Tesla. If I just install front with no parking mode I guess the cheaper A119 will work?

If you have a rear dimming mirror I suggest getting the FitDVR 10 pin dash camera adapter. That way you can power it off the mirror and not have cables running all over.

Also does anybody else have issues where the A119 asks for you to reformat the card because it's full all the time? Shouldn't it be smart enough to loop back and delete the oldest videos and write new ones? My older dash cam did this for years without issue. I do see the looping feature but it's only 10 minutes and that is too short. Could my SSD card be bad? Or does this camera not do constant looping when the card is full?

I have the same question. Anyone?

Thanks.
Avoid the OBD2 adapter if you have a powered rear dimming mirror and get the FitDVR 10 pin power adapter. That way it's powered off the mirror and no possible issues using the OBD2 port.

Yeah I just ran the rest camera through the headliner on an LR4 and would have gladly paid $100 not do that myself 😂

I had a very similar experience, just a couple of months back, some stupid side-swiped my daughters' cars while changing lanes, he changed it too fast, my daughter called me and it was not far from home, I immediately went to the site and pulled the video from the ROAV dash cam and showed to the officer he wrote the report which I posted along with video clip to that stupid insurance and they immediately called and took care of it. The officer told me, without video evidence, it's just your words against their words unless you have one or two witnesses. The dash cam is a must.
I also agree that expensive dash cams are fine, but even 40-50 should work fine. My ROAV dash cam, which was $60 or so, I bought some three years back, and it is still working fine.
All you have to do, is every month first Sunday as I usually set it up, remove SD cards from all the cameras, I have on 4 cars, download all the videos, format the SD Cards, reinsert them, and check the date and time for correctness.
