As much as I want to get rid of this damn pixel 7, it's probably not much an upgrade going to the regular pixel 9 😞😞😞
Actually, I went from the Pixel 7 to the Pixel 9 after what I thought was a benign drop, but the screen on the Pixel 7 went MIA.

A few things I've noticed are that the Pixel 9's fingerprint reader is lightyears ahead of the 7β€”it actually works every time. I also noticed the battery life is somewhat better, the camera is significantly improved, and the device feels a bit snappier than my 7.

In hindsight, I'm not regretting getting the 9, as I do see noticeable improvements. That said, if my Pixel 7 hadn't broken, would I have upgraded? No, I would have kept the Pixel 7.

By the way, I got this phone for $549, not connected to a carrier since I already have one, so I expect Best Buy to drop it to that price again in the coming week for Black Friday.

As someone who went from a Pixel 7 to a 9 Pro XL I can say that it isn't much of an upgrade. Hold off and see what the 10 will offer.
Wish I read this a day ago! I did a upgraded trade in for $500 off.

Lower trade in value through best buy with an uncracked screen, higher value (by $100 in the case of a p7pro) for a cracked screen in otherwise good condition, FYI.

Trade in value for old Pixels are surprisingly good at Google store. $160 for Pixel 3 is much better than anywhere else recently.

With Google, you have to pay tax for that $360.. which will be more than that $10 savings
You can price match the Best buy price with Google store... Just chat with the agent and take screenshot from with the date stamp

Traded my iPhone 15 plus for 256GB pixel 9. I can't stand 60hz on my 15 plus.

I have a Pixel 8 that I've been very happy with. I'm considering upgrading to the Pixel 9, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. The trade-in value for my Pixel 8 is good, but I'm not sure if the Pixel 9 is a significant enough upgrade to justify the cost. Any opinions?
Biggest unspoken upgrade is the pixel 9 will work on starlink cellular service which is rolling out on T-Mobile shortly and should be rolling to other carriers soon

I believe the trade in value is dependent on what device you are looking to purchase. The $225 for the Pixel 6a was when purchasing the Pixel 9.
I also see $70 trade-in on Pixel 6a (unlocked), whether it's against the Pixel 9 or Pixel 9 Pro with 128GB or 256GB. I've played a bit with the trade-in carriers to see if that was a factor (though I'd expect unlocked would be most valuable), but always get the same amount. Perhaps there's something else going on for you - special cookies or something?

Agreed, the fingerprint sensor on the Pixel 7 is complete trash and is honestly the main reason my wife is demanding to get a new phone because hers is extremely hit or miss (mostly miss) on having it read her thumbprint correctly, and the 7 is the first and only phone she's ever had an issue with. Glad to know they fixed it on the 9.

BB trade in process is TERRIBLE. I traded in an iPhone 12 in the store. Trade value was $762.75 The kid behind the counter was unable to print a receipt. He said I'd get one via email. Never did. Never got the credit. Many weeks of emails to Best buy as the stores won't talk on the phone. Then I was accused of not leaving my trade phone in the store. After weeks of back and forth and multiple trips to the store, many emails, they agreed to watch security footage. Redemption? Nope. I had to settle for a lesser amount on the trade. They would let me return the Pixel 9 for a full refund but I could not get my iPhone 12 back because they couldn't locate it.

Never again will I trade in a phone at BB.
done 3 trade ins at best buy no issues. sounds like the store you went to. but also kind of your bad for accepting no receipt

I have a pixel 8 and have no issues with it. I am only considering upgrading for
  • 1) a fresher battery so it should last longer throughout the day,
    2) just get the next iteration so it keeps the value high for next trade in.
The alternative is to keep it and trade in for the pixel 10 or other phone and hope the trade in value doesnt plummet

What do you all think?
