you shoudn't need to wait 60 days if you try the esim swap trick. Did you follow these steps?

Unlocking Process: (to be performed AFTER you 1. transfer the eSIM out and make a couple calls to get the ATT system to recognize the phone number is associated with a different phone 2. Paid off the phone.).

Go to https://www.att.com/deviceunlock/unlockstep1 and say NO to if you have an ATT number, which then allows you to put in the IMEI. and check the box for eligibility, click next.
Enter information of someone who is not the holder of the account including their email address. (family member so you can get to the email quickly)
ATT will email the address you entered above a confirmation email to verify if you are indeed asking for an unlock. Click on the link in the email.
5 minutes later, email came with Approved message (at least for me), with instructions on how to proceed (you can use another eSim at this point, I verified with an IMEI checker and it said UNLOCKED)

Not sure why you are getting this message "Service for this device was canceled within the 14-day return policy period" Your service is obviously active
How long did you wait after paying off the device? Since my payment is not recognized for a day now.

Interestingly, I called AT&T and they stated the opposite (??). They said all third-party trade-in's (Costco, Walmart, BJs, etc.) use AT&T's trade-in value of $830 and not $700. Apparently, the trade-in value promotion is based on what Apple has offered AT&T. They also said, because we will be trading it in at AT&T, we will get AT&T's larger $830 trade-in.Someone on reddit seemed to claim the same:"Walmart does not dictate trade values, they are just the middle man to get the phone ordered and delivered. As long as you are within whatever promotional period is offered by at&t, you are on a qualifying plan, and the device is on installments, then you will get the correct promotion"
I can confirm the good news: AT&T offered the full $830 for my iPhone 12 Pro 256GB, even though I upgraded at Walmart and Walmart only claimed $700. Thus, if someone wanted a $1199 iPhone 16 PM:

$1199 phone
- $830 credit
- $300 Walmart gift card
net $69

I don't think it matters. Some key points I noticed

1. Make some calls and texts before and after the eSIM swap. Make sure both new and old phones register in ATT

2. You may need to wait 24 - 48 hours after paying off your new phone before unlocking. ATT needs some time to recognize the phone is paid off

3. Make sure the swapping phone is fully unlocked

4. Cancel your service only after your phone is unlocked. (If you cancel before unlocking, I am not sure it will unlock automatically after 60 days. ATT has a 60 days unlock policy. ).

Instructions from last year

*** Instant unlock using SIM Swap for ATT (YMMV) ***
After getting the phone and paying it off fully, make some calls/texts and make sure it shows up on ATT account
Transfer the eSIM to an unlocked, steps might vary depending on iPhone/android.
Make some calls with that phone and make sure it shows up on the account now.
Now go to ATT.com/device unlock and select non ATT customer and provide imei.
Make sure you reply yes to the confirmation email ATT sends
Only cancel the account after you are able to unlock.
I followed same except cancellation.

Att is charging around $111.67 for canceled line and for two days usage. Is someone else facing the same issue and reached out to customer service to resolve it? Or it will update on its own?

Att is saying that you will be responsible for 1 full month of bill instead of prorated bill. What shall I do? My portal has currently 0$ bill and before cancellation it was showing 30 days left.

It is pretty confusing. I think the safest bet is to do a mock purchase at AT&T's site, with the phone you want + your 13 Pro's IMEI → that is likely the trade-in price by AT&T.
AT&T changes its trade-in prices almost every few weeks, it seems, but someone earlier said it is tied to the trade-in price made at the time of your new phone purchase, not the date you trade in the old phone.

My summary:

Ordered online for Verizon on 11/30. I'm a tmobile customer. Saved the contract docs for phone/number info and created verizon account but couldn't link.
Shipped on 12/3. At this point I received an email from verizon and was able to link the phone number to my account.
Received on 12/4. I didn't turn on the phone until verizon cancelled. Followed above instructions to pay off phone. Chat with agent to disconnect line immediately.

Within an hour, IMEI shows carrier flex policy so I transfer my tmobile esim and it activates. Check unlock status on Tmobile and it says "STATUS UNKNOWN- this device isn't in our system". Hopefully I'm able to get it unlocked at some point for international travel.

Currently I have about $100 bill and -$65 next bill so around $40.. if it doesn't improve I'll ask to waive activation or something

Anyone seeing $15 promo credits on their verizon account along with 500 GC. I have not traded in anything.
Devices $15.80 IP15 PM 256 NT $30.80
Payment 1 of 36 ($1,068.20 remaining)
Agreement XXXXXXXXXX
Device Promotional Credit -$15.00
Credit 1 of 36
Yeah, me too. Seems like that's what the following message is talking about:

Quote from Rocket_US :
So - I just did a live chat and the agent able to disconnect the line effective today's night.

Still doubt - When i paid off the device, i received an email that "your device promotional credit has been removed from your account as you paid off the device". I hope its not Walmart GC.
So that would make the device cost 359-450+taxes= basically free with verizon service. But I have a hella cheap grandfathered tmobile plan that I don't want to give up so can't keep verizon at $75/mo
