I have this iPad and it has worked well overall for past 2 years. Just be aware that the 11th Gen is supposed to be released in March 2025 with 8GB of RAM and either A17 or M1 chip (both required for Apple Intelligence) and 128GB of storage, similar to how the iPad Mini was recently updated.
Granted this new iPad won't be $249. It'll probably be $349 or $379 initially. If you don't mind the fact that the 10th Gen will be out of date soon and its end of life will be 3-4 years earlier than the 11th Gen, it is at a great price.

If you don't mind the color of the iPad and you want more storage. Walmart has the Silver and Yellow 256GB for $349. Pay with PayPal and get 5% points and it's not too bad of a deal. ($349 + $30.97 Tax - $19 (PayPal 5% Points = $360.97)

We see so many people trash phones that have 128GB internal with no microSD support. Apple shouldn't get a pass.

I can't decide between this and the iPad Air refurb Best Buy deal for $240 as a gift for my 10 year old. I was thinking she could this as a school computer as she gets older, I would eventually get her the Apple pencil and Apple keyboard case at some point. Any suggestions on which I should get between this and the iPad Air for this scenario?

Sorry for the tangent, but I have a quick question for ipad aficionados (will help me determine if I jump on this deal, and I bet we have some serious ipad knowledge in the forum). How is browser dark mode on ipad. I tried quite a few browser and plugin combinations on a ipad 9th gen and they were all less than my android experience, but this was on late ios 16 or early 17.

Weather it was safari with "turn off the lights extension" or nightfall or edge for ios., there was a flash of white (ie not dark mode) between pages or going back. Suprisingly enough edge of all things was the most effective at rendering web pages in dark mode (highest number of them and rendering them correctly). I couldn't find a solution for dark mode with chrome (no menu option, flags or extensions with ios ver)

Ideally what I'm looking for is a solution that doesn't have that white flash, syncs bookmarks withh chrome and has a zoom level I can set through menu or such. But I'd settle for just getting rid of the white flash.

Anyway, anything change with ios 18 (or do you have a setup with an earlier ver that doesn't have this issue)? I have a iphone and mac, so not having a good ipad solution is a bummer. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

edit: Oh should also mention tried firefox, but can't remember why it didn't work out.
