I have a Pixel 6 to trade in that I bought from T-Mobile 3 years ago, so the website already has the IMEI. I went all the way through the checkout process, everything looked good. But then I carefully read the Trade In Terms document. It said the Trade In expires on 11/23/2024 (tomorrow). If you then click on the link in that document that takes you to https://www.t-mobile.com/commerce...d-t-c.html , it says "If you fail to return your Device by the trade-in expiration date, you may be required to pay back any value or credit advanced to you." It also says "...if you sell your Device online or over the phone, we will honor the Offer Price if: (1) your Device is received by us by the Offer Price trade-in expiration date."
That's impossible, how can I mail it and have them receive it the next day? They should have an expiration date at least a week or two away, so that I can first receive and activate the new Pixel 9, copy stuff over (if needed), delete all my personal info from the Pixel 6 ("You will remove all Device data and personal information, passwords, security software, or user locks."), then ship it to them and leave time for shipping carrier to get it to them.
So I reluctantly backed out at the final step.
This deal worked on my Simple Choice plan -- via T-App, traded in S21FE, total was the $35 DCC + state tax.
You'll actually be fine with the trade in. Just placed my order and this is verbatim from my confirmation email from T-Mobile:

What's next?
Once that cool new device is in your hands, get started on these important next steps.
Trade in your old device
Once your new Pixel 9 Pro ships, you'll have 30 days to send back your current Google GVU6C Pixel 7 5G 128GB White - T-Mobile in good condition to retain your promotional value of $800.00.

I don't think it's one day to return, I placed order earlier for the pixel 9 pro with 800 off trading in my pixel 6 it makes it only $200. It says this at the bottom of my order confirmation email....

If the promo works you should have received a text confirming the line eligible for $800 promo as long as eligibility is maintain message within a few minutes
No text specifying the promo. It's been a while since my SC's qualified for a decent trade in promo but iirc it can take a few days to pop up so I'll check in with T-Force on Mon.

I recently (less than 2 weeks ago) went through a transaction to get two Pixel 8A phones with trade-in for the ONE Plan not knowing anything better could be available so soon. I got the 8A phones but have not sent trade-in devices yet.

Is there any possibility I could ask to switch to these phones without being charged a ton of fees?

I have an old sprint account that was made into a legacy account... I pay 135 for unlimited everything for 4 lines... but they won't subsidize me getting a new phone... so if I want to pay double for the rest of my life... I can get a shiny new phone.

I have a well-working Pixel 6 Pro that I'm looking to trade in - but it has the TINIEST of the tiny cracks in the very top right corner. I'm sure T-Mobile reps would still easily see it though. The phone also flashes half the screen when it is at low brightness. At high brightness it doesn't.

Anyone know if it makes sense to take it to a place like ubreakifixit to replace/repair the screen and then do a trade-in? Would T-mobile have no problem accepting it if I mailed it in as a trade-in for this?

Just wondering if others have had this debacle. It is rather insane they they offer $800 for the phone, but if it has a tiny crack they drop down the trade-in to a mere $40.

Meanwhile, the phone itself on the ACTUAL market-price is roughly ~80-120 on eBay and no where near $800.

Just buy a cheap phone off eBay. If you search galaxy s9, there's a couple of sellers that have the phone explicitly for trade in for around $115.

Right, but wouldn't I have to activate it and set it up for my t-mobile line first in order for it to be a valid "trade-in" ? Are there extra costs with that such as $35 activation fee?

Or is this something that is relatively easy?

You can't have it unlocked until it's paid off. If you paid it off early, the bill credit stops. Which means you are in the T jail for 24mo.

you should get an email "T-mobile order documents" which links to https://www.t-mobile.com/account-activity

on that page, there will be a document containing the trade-in info

edit: oh, i see the info in my confirmation email as well (at the bottom)

I see.... so if I just buy a clean phone on Swappa with no IMEI that is blacklisted and enter that in and send it in - with no activation or anything.... they will accept it?

If so then that sounds like the clear winner to me over paying $200+ for a screen repair that they may or may not accept....
