Anywho who may be curious about "Red Lake 40", which I had never seen before and is in the "strawberry" flavor, ChatGPT says Red 40 Lake is a synthetic food coloring made from petroleum-derived compounds. It is the "lake" form of Red 40, a popular food dye. Here's a breakdown:

What Does "Lake" Mean?
A lake dye is a water-insoluble pigment created by combining a water-soluble dye (like Red 40) with a substrate, typically aluminum hydroxide. This process makes the dye more stable and suitable for applications where water solubility is not desired.

Key Characteristics:
Purpose: Used to color products that are oil-based or require a solid, stable pigment.
Applications: Common in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and food products like candies, icing, and baked goods.
FDA Approval: Red 40 Lake is approved for use in many countries, including the U.S., under strict regulations.
Controversies:
Health Concerns: Some individuals report sensitivities or hyperactivity reactions to artificial dyes, though research has not conclusively linked Red 40 to major health risks.
Natural Alternatives: Increasingly, food companies are switching to natural colorants like beet juice or paprika due to consumer demand.
If you're checking for it in ingredient lists, it may appear as FD&C Red No. 40 Lake or simply Red 40 Lake.

Damn this stuff has really gone up in price. I only have drank the Double Chocolate and a bit hesitant to switch flavors. Trouble is the Double Chocolate is $129 and not $99.

I got 11lb for $60 from MyProtein about a year ago that I'm still using. Refusing to buy any until another deal pops up closer to that price.

Their mocha cappuccino is my favorite all time protein powder flavor, goes excellent with coffee as a cold brew or a shake.

Has or does the Costco Kirkland protein gone on sale? I think I see it around $50 or so when I go in, I've read it's not too bad, and it may be worth just getting that over ON since sales for ON usually suck.
