My new Pixel 9 is now carrier unlocked and OEM/bootloader unlocked.

The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".

Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.

Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.

Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.

I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.

To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.

If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.

I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

Good luck!

That's amazing ! I just logged into my account and went to new phones and it showed it for $299!

Below is my order breakdown:

Nice!

Wasn't expecting to upgrade my phone but at this price its a no brainer for a better finger print sensor!

So $300 for the phone if you're fine with the 5GB plan for a year

I don't need the 12-months service.

Can you become an existing customer by buying their 3 months service before buying the Pixel 9 for $299? I am considering buying their 3-months service from Best Buy for $45 and get the Pixel 9 later.

Total is $344 plus taxes on $299??

Anyone tried this? Or any of you existing customer who is not on a yearly plan also sees the Pixel 9 available for $299? TIA!

Did you check their website to see if the phone is available to you for $299?

Just checked with an online agent, this offer is not valid for existing customers.

Just wondering what data plan do you have before purchasing the phone?

Are you on a yearly plan? TIA.

That's only if you already had an unlimited plan as an existing customer. I had a 15 gb plan, so that's what it's still on. I'm just buying the phone to upgrade.
I just bought 2 phones and hope they don't cancel my order. I currently have 15gb plan with about 2 months left. I will port out my number to GV because I already have 1 year of service free from Spectrum.

After activating the new phone with existing mint sim, do we need to use the new phone for 60 days, or just activation with existing mint sim is sufficient to unlock? Do we need plan to last atleast 60 days? My annual plan is expiring in a month

I am just rolling the dice. I have one month left. Hopefully it unlocks after 60 days.

Yeah, this is the "plan" I came up with. Holler if you get confirmation either way.
