My new Pixel 9 is now carrier unlocked and OEM/bootloader unlocked.

The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".

Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.

Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.

Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.

I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.

To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.

If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.

I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

Good luck!

That's amazing ! I just logged into my account and went to new phones and it showed it for $299!

Below is my order breakdown:

Nice!

Wasn't expecting to upgrade my phone but at this price its a no brainer for a better finger print sensor!

Thanks for sharing! Do you have to be on an annual plan? or unlimited data plan?

I will try it on next deal they offer on a different phone. The Pixel 9 when unlocked will not work with the network when I travel overseas.

See "HonestCabbage6387" posted after you. That seems to work.

I also decided to pass on this one since Pixel 9's US version does not support the LTE/5G band I will need when traveling overseas.

Yeah, this is the "plan" I came up with. Holler if you get confirmation either way.

After activating the new phone with existing mint sim, do we need to use the new phone for 60 days, or just activation with existing mint sim is sufficient to unlock? Do we need plan to last atleast 60 days? My annual plan is expiring in a month
In the same situation. Wonder if the phone is automatically unlocked or have to ask CS?

Does the service start when activated or when delivered? I don't want to start service until December. Thanks.

Damn. I should have waited. Bought mine a month ago from them as existing customer for $400. I figured it wouldn't go any lower this soon, clearly I was wrong. Lol I doubt there's anything I can do now to price adjust. Doh

If you have a BofA credit card check the offers. I got a Mint Mobile offer 50% off of plan price. Cross my fingers that I get $90 back on the $180 that would be sweet.

How'd you get this? My previous mint expired in April. I tried to log in, but the account is one a number that I no longer have easy access to (one of my kids) and the number I'd like to port in is different. I know they have my email because they occasionally email me, but it doesn't seem to give me a place to sign in without a number or do anything as "returning" customer.

Just wondering what data plan do you have before purchasing the phone?

Are you on a yearly plan? TIA.
I'm on the 5 GB $15/month plan, been on it several years, no issues. I use google voice for my main line, so i dont really care what number mint assigns me.

edit: ya I'm on the 1 yr plan currently.

So can anyone help me with this, "Requires port-in from eligible carrier, purchase of new device on mintmobile.com and upfront payment of $180.

Is T-mobile an eligible carrier? I couldn't find a list anywhere. Thanks.

edit: Checked with their customer service, T-mobile and Straight Talk are eligible carriers.
