My new Pixel 9 is now carrier unlocked and OEM/bootloader unlocked.

The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".

Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.

Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.

Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.

I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.

To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.

If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.

I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

Good luck!

That's amazing ! I just logged into my account and went to new phones and it showed it for $299!

Below is my order breakdown:

Nice!

Wasn't expecting to upgrade my phone but at this price its a no brainer for a better finger print sensor!

What will happen if you get the order. Will you receive an unlocked phone?

I am an existing mint customer with a physical sim.
I'm not sure what I'm gonna receive

I can confirm that you can order 3-month service, port in your number, have the account created and logged in. Then go to mintmobile.com homepage from the same browser session, top menu under Phones => Deals, you should see the Pixel 9 at 299. Click Details on it and the details page should not show you option to pick plan nor SIM type. It should only offer protection plan and a button to add to cart.

Edit: I added 3-month 5-gig service and used "freemonth" promo code to get it at $30 + tax and fees.
I couldn't seem to get back to the mintmobile homepage after logging into my account. I can only get to see My Account details when logged in - navigating away (or to the main site on the same session) takes me to the logged-out homepage. Anyone figure this out? I've used multiple browsers.

I thought I had missed out on the deal when I logged into my Mint account and couldn't find the Pixel 9. However, I still had a tab opened to the Pixel 9 page and it let me order 2 Pixel 9s without being logged in. That was unexpected! $299 x 2 = $598. It did not ask me to pick a plan. Shipping to my brother in NH to avoid the taxes and fees.

Go find my post on page 10(?) people and see if the link is still working. We're upgrading from a Pixel 7 from a previous Mint deal.

Wish Mint would do something slick on the iPhone 14 or 15 for the teens in the house!

Thanks for that link. I couldn't find the pixel 9 on the website as I was logged in on my mother's account. I just clicked on your link I'm not logged into anything and it let me order. No port information none of that. Just a simple order. Hopefully there's no issues. It seems too easy. Haha

FYI - Mint chat agent says: We can swap our existing Mint sims into these new Pixel 9s and both will unlock after 60 days, which we can initiate via a chat session. We'll see.
I have only 1 number or sim card, can I do that to both new Pixel 9 phones?

Anybody know what the definition of new customer is? How long do you have to be away from Mint? Got conflicting info from reps on past deals.

Port in is only required to get the half price unlimited plan. Existing customers can just buy the phone for $299 nothing special required (other than 60 days locked to Mint).
Thanks. I saw that port in requirement after I bought the phone and tried to cancel right away. Customer service seemed to understand, but I just received a tracking number. Now I have to find a number to port in.

Tempting deal. Does anyone know if the Pixel phones sold thru Mint can be bootloader unlocked (to install a custom OS)?
I had a chat with Loraine in customer service and was assured that the bootloader can be unlocked. Fingers crossed that's true, as I hope to load a custom OS.

Have any current Mint customers been successful with getting the $299 deal? I am a current customer and ordered this phone yesterday, literally, for $399. I've been chatting with customer service for a while now and it seems like they're not willing to refund me the $100. Wondering if I should just place a new order for the phone and return the one I've already ordered once it arrives. Just concerned though that ordering the phone through the link below will create some kind of issue with my existing account/phone number when I try to activate the new phone.

Even at $299 ($325 after taxes), it doesn't really seem worth that much to upgrade from my Pixel 7 that I got 2 years ago from the previous Mint deal. I guess you could buy it to unlock and flip and make maybe $200, if that's worth the hassle.

Seems like the only changes are a bit more RAM, 10% more battery, and improved fingerprint sensor? I haven't had any noticeable issues with my Pixel 7.

Don't open a new account with a physical sim if you're porting in, like I did as a dumbass.
Can't login to my account unless I activate the sim card. And I can't order the phone for $299 without logging into the account. Doh!

Ya I'm confused cause after I ordered I got an email to remind me to activate my mint when I get it but I already have an activated line.
