My new Pixel 9 is now carrier unlocked and OEM/bootloader unlocked.

The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".

Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.

Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.

Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.

I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.

To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.

If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.

I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

Good luck!

That's amazing ! I just logged into my account and went to new phones and it showed it for $299!

Below is my order breakdown:

Nice!

Wasn't expecting to upgrade my phone but at this price its a no brainer for a better finger print sensor!

Weird doesn't even show up on the app for me. It goes from Pixel 9 Pro Fold to Pixel 8a
Same here. Pixel 9 is not on the app.

You need to poke around a bit. I think the initial "phones" landing page takes you to a limited set (pixel 9 fold and 8a for some reason), but if you go back to the main phone screen and drill down to google phones, it will get you there. Like the OP says, it only works in the app. I hope that helps!

No it is being filtered out for me. When I click on the Google option it initially shows 9 phones then drops down to just 4 less than a second later. Guess I don't spend enough on my phone plan for Mint.

Can verify, as an existing mint user, I was able to purchase 2 for $299 via the app. Thanks OP!
Did you also have to buy a data plan? If not, how do you remove it?

What's preventing someone from signing up for the service separately. So now they're an existing user. Then buy the phone without the 12 months lock in.
Nothing is preventing you from doing this -- I signed up for Mint about a month ago (using the unlimited 3-month plan for $45) and it's available for me to buy right away

This was happening for me also -- I'm a newer user and on the cheap plan, The way I got to it is:

Account -> Shop New Phones

It will take you to the "Phone Deals" page by default.. click "Home" (where it says ("Home > Phone Deals" at the top of the page)

Scroll to the bottom and you'll see "Limited Time Offer: Google Pixel 9, $500 off, Price: $479"

Click View Details

It will show the price as $299 (since you already have a plan, it won't add the $180)

Make sure you are logged in. I just went back in after placing my order, to verify the steps. And it had logged me off.
I was able to find it again by doing the following:
1. Open the app, click the account icon
2. Select Shop new phones
3. Click the "home" link (it will be home-->deals)
4. Scroll wayyy down until you see Google pixel 9 for 479.
5. Click it and you will see the 299 price

As an existing user, I did not. However, make sure you are purchasing via the app , as it will force you to buy a plan on the website.

Do you need 60 days of active service to unlock the phone?

I followed a link on the other post and it took me directly to the phone. I don't have a mint account. Wasn't signed into anything. It still let me place the order didn't ask anything about a plan. I wonder at this point if it will be already unlocked like some are reporting.
