Did you contact Mint and ask them to open a ticket to unlock it?
No I did not but I haven't opened the box yet so I am not sure if it is truly unlocked? Not sure how to be sure without opening

How did you get $299 price without being a Mint customer?
Buy the 3 month plans that's on sale for $30 first. Register an account. Now you are a Mint customer. Then once logged in, go to new phone deals to buy this… if still in stock

I've read online that Pixels will lock after the first power on, when they go online and check whether they need to be locked or not. This lead to the previous loopholes where you'd set it up offline, then either apply ADB commands, firewall block or disable the app that checks with their servers.

But it could also be that Mint's sending out unlocked devices (again?).

Can we just stick an active SIM in from another carrier to see if it works?

This says unlocked too:

https://www.t-mobile.com/resource...vices:BYOD [t-mobile.com]
t-mobile BYOD is not a tool to check this neither. They actually ask you to verify the unlock status on the page:

What's next?
You can activate your eSIM-compatible phone starting today. Just follow the steps below to continue your activation.

Add a line for this phone.
Please ensure your phone is unlocked. Contact your wireless carrier if you're having trouble unlocking your phone.
Make sure you're on a reliable Wi-Fi connection.

Is there any way to get the year of service included if I am already a mint customer? Would there be any way to keep my current number or would I have to buy a cheap pre-paid phone from walmart and transfer it in?

As far as I know that doesn't happen. It will either be locked to Mint or Unlocked. If you put in a different service provider sim and it is locked then it wont work and you will need to put in a Mint sim and wait for 60 days for the phone to unlock

I am not planning to open this as I bought this for a gift. However I checked the IMEI in the T-mobile for instance using their BYOD checker and it says not network locked and eligible ("This device is not blocked from use on our network.") https://www.t-mobile.com/resource...-own-phone
I used the above link to check the 2 phones just received 30 min ago. T Mobile said "This device is not blocked from use on our network."
However I am not sure this means unlocked because Mint is owned by T-Mobile. If it is locked to Mint, it would still be used with T-Mobile network. No?
Google Repair Services also said the phones are unlocked.
Of course the phones are still in the boxes, not even power up yet.

Confirmed my pixel 9 is mint locked. Displayed message to contact mint when sticking in a non mint sim.

BTW... be careful the sim tray slot is next to a microphone hole... stick it in the right hole...

Someone just replied to my thread. It seems these links don't actually verify the unlock status. I am going to rely on the ticket status from mint mobile that says it is unlocked.
