The discussion with Mint customer service rep yesterday resulted in a trouble ticket being assigned to the "backend office". I was told I'd "receive an e-mail within 24-48 hours".
Late this morning (less than 24 hours after the ticket was issued) the new phone had a notification that the phone was carrier unlocked.
Under Developer Options the OEM unlocking was immediately selectable--I need this for installing the after-market ROM, but this bootloader unlocking is tied to the carrier unlocking.
Soon thereafter I received another notification: "No service" and "Selected network (Mint) unavailable". That may be due to the fact that I had previously deselected "Automatically select network" in settings. So I selected the "Choose network" option and then selected "Mint" (the only option since I hadn't changed Sims) and a few seconds later I was back in business.
I never received the e-mail from the backend office, but everything seems to be working.
To answer a couple other questions folks have asked: My understanding is that this is a permanent carrier unlocking. I believe I'd told the Mint customer service rep (Kylah) that I was going to be going on international travel (as the excuse for needing it carrier unlocked right away). I had paid for a year of service along with the phone. The fact that the service is already fully paid-for is one of the requirements you need to meet for them to unlock your phone right away. I ordered Tuesday of last week and received it via FedEx on Friday. I had used an eSim for the Mint service on this phone. I'm a brand new customer of Mint, but I don't think that should matter.
If I receive an e-mail from the backend office and it contributes any additional information I'll post a follow-up message.
I'd actually ported-in a burner phone number to this service. So after I load GrapheneOS, I'm going to switch numbers (port-in) so my new phone has my main phone number. Hopefully that will take less time and I'll get less of a run-around doing that.

I haven't heard from anybody yet, however I noticed each phone box has 2 IMEI ID's listed on it. For those who were able to get their phone unlocked, does anyone know if they unlock both IMEI or just one?
Bought $30 for 3 mo promo plan from Mint on Black friday days with esim option
Once they send you eSIM it lets you create account WHILE in activation process
But do NOT activate yet but use the account created to login and order Pixel 9
Needs the link posted to arrive at $299 pixel 9 which fails to show under normal search
Once Pixel 9 comes in 2-3 days use that 3 mo prepaid promo to activate!
Next day chat with customer service and must mention international travel (I actually have)
They unlock in 48-72 hrs (awaiting but got confirmation in chat)
So I will have Pixel 9 in $299+tax + $30+tax = $329 + tax
Once done technically can rinse and repeat
Question: for those who unlocked: is the pixel 9 supporting all functions/frequencies or anything crippled compared to unlocked ones from Google for example - any difference in the device or unlockability / levels of unlocking (I recall long ago some carrier unlocked phones had more to unlock abroad etc)

So, if one has the unlimited or any of the other limited Mint Mobile plans and uses streaming services the allotted data will be used up in no time as streaming video uses up very high amounts of data.
Using over 200Gb+/mo. of data if doing video streaming it not unusual.

So, the $15/mo. Mint unlimited service that's uses over the 40Gb allotted unlimited data will get de-prioritized to the very low speeds that don't work with video streaming.
In addition the $15/mo. Mint unlimited service does NOT include taxes, fees and recovery fees that bring that plan closer to $20+ monthly for these first offers.
Not to mention that this $15/mo. first year offer becomes $35+/mo. after the first year.
If one uses a lot of streaming data it's best to get the Metro-by-T-Mobile $25/mo. BYOD plan that includes all taxes and fees and has the Binge-On feature.
Again, all this depends on a person's uses and priorities of these mobile plan services.
These Mint Mobile offers are mostly of interest to those who get them for a very limited time and take the money and run, so to speak.
I could swear I read something about it here, but searching back through now I can't find it.
