Limited-time deal: Amazon Basics 16-Pack Rechargeable AA NiMH High-Capacity Batteries, 2400 mAh, Recharge up to 400x Times, Pre-Charged https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NWVWKRG
No, I've always used eneloop and tried these, hardly hold a charge. Eneloops by far are better.
Agreed. I bought a bunch of these late summer for fake candles. They need to be charged before using or they are noticably dimmer than the others (tenergy, power owl, eneloop.) They have decent life after that so... I didn't know what that means. Bigger voltage drop off? Might be fine in some applications given this price point, but I won't be buying today ...

With a battery charger. Just search for it on Amazon.
Never knew they were universal! Any you'd recommend?

These batteries are 1.2V. They won't work on some of the items that require 1.5V.

One more vote for "my batches work!" I'm not putting them in power-intensive devices except the Xbox controllers. Recharge without issue and just keep cycling them. Maybe if I were going through them and needed to recharge all the time, I would be dissatisfied..? But all are still charging and holding charge after a few years of use. I just bought a 24 pack of the AAAs. I guess YMMV.

I'll say again, I've gotten these several times. No issues. Some were Japan, now they are all china, but no problems.

I only use the 2000mah.

I have 10+ year old eneloops, 10 year"kodak", and some ebl. The ebl are not great.

I think 2000ish is the sweet spot for any nimh battery. Anything bigger seems to be hit or miss.

Again, I have 24-30 of these, no failures, test at rated capacity.

I'm happy with them.
I looked today putting them in candles. I was wrong. All the one I have that aren't Japan made are Malaysian made. I don't think I have any Chinese made ones.

Just be aware that these are 1.2v as some appliances require 1.5v or otherwise they don't turn on

These are definitely low quality. The ones that I got in multiple purchases are slightly larger than a normal AA which isn't generally an issue but makes them a pain to get out of some devices. I haven't found anything better than Eneloop but their quality has slid since selling to Panasonic. The margin between Eneloop and the garbage rechargeable batteries is getting smaller.

Just personal experience: I've bought 2 sets of Amazon Basics AA and AAA batteries when they were super cheap like this. After just a few charges (like 4 or 5 charges max), I've had at least a third of each box fail. Had one or two completely failed out of the box as well. Amazon replaced a set of the AA, and the problems continued. I've used different brands of chargers, including Energizer brand chargers, and had the same experience.
Crazy as it sounds, I still have a handful of Duracell AA from 2015 (looked up the date code to be sure) that work just fine. Never touching Amazon batteries again. Pretty sure I'm going with Eneloop next time and maybe EBL for budget batteries.

So I decided to randomly check capacity on 4 of the Malaysian ones.

On my maha c-9000 they all tested over 1925 mah. Some could be from July, some from nov 23. 3 were about 1975mah.

Zero duds for me. I think I've had 30 or so, some have been lost. This is from 3 different orders.

I also have eneloops from 2011.

I won't buy eneloops again as the value isn't there. Yes I know they last very long, but some do get lost. So for the money, it's Amazon nimh 2000mah.

Garbage. I got 16 last year and they didn't last a year, with limited use. 1/4 of them don't charge at all now. 1/2 of them hold poor-mediocre charge and maybe 1/4 are OK

1.2v not 1.5v not suitable for all devices check your device label for voltage needed.

Scummy post title from rechargeable battery brands never mention the voltage.

All NiMH rechargeable batteries are 1.2V nominal. As other have pointed out some devices work better (brighter, etc) with 1.5V alkaline or lithium with a step down converter built in (Xtar makes ok ones).

Plenty of battery charger and tester reviews online. Do some basic research if interested.

Yea, the first use was fine, but after I kept questioning why my stuff was dying so fast, and questioning which batteries I recharged already because they all seem to be dead or just about dead. Mostly using for my logitech mouse and keyboard.

One time purchase of the 24 QTY of these is showing as $18.09 for me ($0.77/ea) or $17.19 for S&S.
This is what I went with. I have had zero issues with Amazon rechargeable batteries.

I came here just to see if by chance anyone else got a bad batch of these recently. I was not expecting a bunch of people who also think these are junk. You really have to look out for capacity because they're already at a low 1.2v to begin with and won't even work in sensitive electronics. Sensitive aka even some of my kids toys.
They used to be eneloops, now they are cheap junk.
