could be worse.
These do not have any HFCS, corn syrup, artificial flavors/sweeteners...plus the first ingredient is "WHOLE GRAIN BLEND (ROLLED OATS, RYE FLAKES)."
Also, as a side-note for folks wishing to avoid bleached flour in their snacks, regarding Nabisco/Mondelez cookies & crackers. I have noticed when I shop and compare ingredients in our local grocery store, most of their products are made with unbleached and/or whole grain flours (eg, graham crackers, saltines etc), while most other manufacturers' products are not (they typically contain enriched/bleached flour). Hopefully this info might interest some SD'ers :-)

INGREDIENTS: WHOLE GRAIN BLEND (ROLLED OATS, RYE FLAKES), ENRICHED FLOUR [WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, REDUCED IRON, THIAMIN MONONITRATE (VITAMIN B1), RIBOFLAVIN (VITAMIN B2), FOLIC ACID], SUGAR, CANOLA OIL, WHOLE GRAIN WHEAT FLOUR, DRIED BLUEBERRIES, MALT SYRUP (FROM CORN AND BARLEY), BAKING SODA, SALT, SOY LECITHIN, DISODIUM PYROPHOSPHATE, NATURAL FLAVOR, DATEM, BLUEBERRY JUICE CONCENTRATE, FERRIC ORTHOPHOSPHATE (IRON), NIACINAMIDE, PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE (VITAMIN B6), RIBOFLAVIN (VITAMIN B2), THIAMIN MONONITRATE (VITAMIN B1).CONTAINS: WHEAT, SOY.
DISODIUM PYROPHOSPHATE - Disodium pyrophosphate is a synthetic chemical preservative derived from mined phosphate rock. Its chemical formula is Na₂H₂P₂O₇ and its molar mass is 221.94 g/mol.
It helps adjust pH, maintain color, and improve water-holding capacity.
Yum, Yum!!! I wouldn't eat it and neither should you.
And I only picked one property...NATURAL FLAVOR, has everyone seen the slurm episode? What insects' butt do you think pooped out the natural flavors?
You make very valid points regarding nutritional values & protein/sugar intake.
In my view, at least,, Belvita is more of a "mainstream" product that is readily available in most of the larger grocery store chains, and, when compared with other products that address that same market, has better-than-average quality ingredients, as I mentioned in my previous reply (eg, it is quite rare to find cookies & crackers with unbleached flour in the typical grocery stores' aisles throughout the US). Yes, products like Olyra may hit better numbers and meet specific needs for consumers seeking them, but it, and its peers, address a much different spectrum of customer...for example, Olyra is sold on health food sites like Vitacost and iHerb, while Belvita is not. Comparing the two products is analogous to comparing a Toyota to a Lexus (both are decent products, made by the same company, but designed to address different customers' needs).
Overall, the average shopper looking for a basic cookie/biscuit in a typical grocery store could do a lot worse, IMHO.
