I've had this printer for over a year and still on yhe original toners that will probably last me a few more years lol. And despite what people said at the time, I think the quality of color photo prints is pretty good. Not quite photo lab quality, but acceptable enough for me. Other brands are not going to have the same Canon quality. I also don't find it that loud, it's a laser printer ffs they're all somewhat loud.

Oh yeah go to camelcamelcamel and paste the Amazon link it shows you the price graph. At least that claims $179 as the historical low so idk

Wow yeah the Canon toner is like $85/color and ~$70 for black. Do you know if there's any third-party alternatives? Might have to cancel my order actually because of that, agree that it's not worth the price then

good printer even for heavier duty,,, but ends up being pretty costly.. BUYING this one for 179 is cheaper than replacing printer cartridges… silly model.

Let's say one goes with genuine toner which is like $72 standard capacity from BB. That's still cheaper than $179 new, no? I assume one can get 3rd party toners for much cheaper.

It has 4 toner cartridges (black ~$72, each color ~$85). Not sure how long each lasts but you're looking >$300 for all 4 if they need to be replaced

The reviews on this aren't very promising. While it seems that it prints well, it sounds like every other part of it is the problem. People reporting connectivity problems, and that it's ridiculously loud.

12% 1 star customer reviews, that's double what I'd normally accept as a threshold. Reading the most recent reviews, the comments are not very reassuring.
EDIT: Based on the comments here and in the Amazon reviews, this seems to be a roll of the dice deal. Some good experiences, some bad experiences, and a lot of qualified "good, but..." experiences.
