You need this for the next time you go to do your brakes and realize the kid at the tire shop decided to skip using a torque stick and put your wheels on with all the ugga duggas
If you need a cordless impact wrench to take off semi truck lug nuts, then maybe the Ryobi would be a better choice.
The problem with the Ryobi is mainly it's so large, for car repairs it's more likely you'll be able to fit in the ridgid in spaces the Ryobi would not fit.
The 600ft lb wrench is a much better choice imo for most users.
"But I used it, and that didn't happen to me." <---the ones who dislike my comment.

On almost everything I use the stubby but it's a bit slower as the torqued bolt gets higher. If I'm impatient or just wanna move fast but shuck something beefy around, I'm using the Ryobi mid torque.
I've only used this big monster when I'm really stuck. (ie. Some clown who torqued the mf hell outta some caliper bracket bolts on a friend's Ram. Even then, one of them still didn't come off. I felt a little let down by it but I have no idea what the final value they were torqued to.)
Here are some examples of my usage:
1. Timing belt crank shaft bolt.
2. Lug nuts (the impact wrench saves you a lot of time and energy.)
3. Water heater anode rod (The impact wrench is a life saver in this situation as the anode rod was on very tight and the whole water heater rotates as you apply torque with a breaker bar.)
The impact wrench is indispensable when you encounter any nuts that you can't remove with a breaker bar.
