Good specs plus display seems nice, anyone has a feed about this, I don't game but need a good GPU for big excel files and process, currently have an Acer nitro V 3050ti but the weight it's massive, would this be a good upgrade?
Personally I wouldn't. The processor is a different architecture so not all programs are compatible with it (yet?). You can get a price like this with a good intel or AMD cpu laptop as well.

I was really interested in this but when I saw vpns listed as the type of apps that might not work I was "out of here"

With the way I roll going without a VPN is not an option. Maybe in a few years the big guys will get arm apps for VPN and I'll look at it again......

It's going to take time for this CPU to shine.
When Apple ditched Intel and started their M series ARM based CPUs, there wasn't strong support right away from 3rd party apps.
Only MacOS was strong out of the box.
If you want to game on this, you will be limited to Xbox GamePass cloud or possibly GeforeNow cloud. I don't believe there are any local game options outside of Microsoft's AppStore.

Your other alternative is wiping out windows and installing Linux Ubuntu. Only because Linux already has over a decade of experience with ARM based software.

At the end of the day, you are buying some nice hardware here. Microsoft based software just needs to catch up.

I am using PIA VPN on this laptop as they have an ARM version.

While the $50 drop had me look again, the random Bestbuy review referencing the LG V20 DAC had me pull the trigger. I wanted larger screen, don't play games or have app concerns.
For most people, the $649 14 inch with Intel ultra gen 2 seems like a smarter deal.

But but but all of the influencers said this is the second coming of Jesus! Goodbye arm on windows, you were actually the second coming of Windows RT, nobody wanted you then and nobody wants you now.
but apple proved it works. so microsoft has to make it work.

Ignore the "it's crap" commenter. He obviously brought the wrong tool for the job and now is butt-hurt about it.

Look, I have this laptop (paid $473 open box from BB) and while a few of my apps don't have ARM versions, they still run. It's a beautiful laptop, with 3K OLED 120Hz screen, it's thin and liight and as such, if you just need something for day-to-day tasks and Office apps, this works 100% perfect. And, it's fast at what it does.

$499 is a great deal. If you are into gaming (I'm not, AT ALL), this isn't for you. If you have a must-have app, there is a list of compatible ARM apps or go check with the software people themselves and ask.

Originally I was a big "No" vote against these based on compatibility and the premium prices that were being asked. But now, $500 for a 3K OLED 120Hz screen, 16GB ultra-fast memory and an upgradeable SSD drive (unlike Samsung) is something to consider, IF it's the right tool for you.

I purchased an open box for around $475 when it went on sale a couple of weeks ago. Love the 15.6" OLED 120Hz screen with HDR enabled (disabled by default), which is the primary reason for my purchase. Laptop is fast for native ARM64 applications. It is a great laptop for web browsing and Netflix/media consumption.
Same here -- $473 I think I got mine for. I've got another ASUS Intel-based laptop also, but after using this one, it does about 90% of everything I need with better battery life.

I don't know why people are downvoting you. They probably will downvote me too… You're just simply stating facts. These people here deserve to find out about these incompatibility issues on their own. That said, I have this laptop and I game about 6/7 hours a day, and because of that, no one can beat me in Solitaire now.
He's being downvoted (and so are you) because the "facts" don't make it crap or "total trash". It may not do what YOU want it to do, but there are plenty of people that use office apps, email, browsing, etc., and plenty of other apps that work great on ARM. I don't use Google drive so I could care less. I don't game or run graphically-intensive apps so I could care less about those too.

It's unfortunate you and Crayon didn't do your research before buying it and found out the hard way. Hopefully you returned them, but to paint ARM laptops with your paint brush is unfair to the people these ARE suited for.
