With that in mind this is not a special price or anything. There's 100 varieties, and almost always at least some have price reductions or clip coupons of 35-60% off.
I usually buy them when they're about 130 pieces for $35.
With that said keep in mind that pieces can be of varying sizes (and counts). You probably don't want 50 pieces of the tiny ones - unless that's what you're after.
If you're brand new to this - try to buy a set that has the largest number of squares (solid, or doors/windows) or the 4x4 squares - those are the most useful for kids to do stuff with.
It's amazing for creativity. You'll be shocked what your kids come up with.

As I've said they're really all the same, made in China stuff sold under diff branding. I buy when I see a good discount. This particular one (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CFQ6ZBFB/) I've bought twice apparently according to my buy history. It's 130 pieces for $30 with the current coupon. I think that's a solid price.
Have fun with the kid(s)!
I agree with everything you shared. I would add to the conversation that magnet safety is a big concern for many parents (me included). While there is a VERY high chance that any of the knockoffs would be fine, there is always a chance that a broken piece and a swallowed magnet can cause major issues and a hospital trip. So what is the difference-maker? Metal rivets.
In short, there are hundreds of magnetic tile brands, and a handful are, what I would consider, main competitors (Magna-tiles, Connectix, Picasso, MagFormers, PlayMags, etc). With that said, only three (Magnatiles, Connectix, and PlayMags) have metal rivets that hold the pieces together. Of course, a hammer could crack any of these brands, rivets or not, so most toddler play will be totally fine, but personally, any tiles that come into our house need to have metal rivets. Playmags is the best value of those three brands, which is why we have been using them. If there are cool unique sets that my kids are interested in, (marble run, race track, zoo animals, etc), we have no problem springing for the pricier Magna-tiles.
Im sure there are more competitors with rivets and more will enter the market, but just sharing to inform others.
Sorry for oversharing, but I dove deep into this toy a while back and those were my findings. I'll likely share this on every one of these deals I see. Wishing nothing but the safest for all your little ones!
