With that said - I have owned both styles, both by DeWalt, and both of them won't reliably hold at 90 degrees. The lever lock does not work well, in my opinion. Or maybe I just got a dud.

There is a slot in the shoe at 90 degrees, and a pin in the body of the jigsaw. So to lock the shoe, it must be pulled back so the pin goes into the slot. This is shown by the lock/unlock icons on the right side of the shoe. If not locked, only the friction of the lock lever is holding it at whatever angle you select.

Good deal, this doesn't go on sale nearly as much as the regular D handle. I don't use a jigsaw enough to switch but this does seem like the better form factor. Batteries will bring 100 bucks basically instantly on marketplace, more if you're patient.

Agreed, the lock is kinda counterintuitive. The manual explains it, of course I didn't read it until later.

I wasn't sure I'd like the barrel grip when I bought mine, but I've found I have better control of the tool. Maybe it's because my hand is closer to the material? I grab for the barrel grip jig saw every time over the standard grip saw. My 2 cents...

whichever your hand likes better. the internals are the same in every way that matters (motor, bearings, etc). the only the handle orientation is different. but for some inexplicable reason dewalt will only include the D handle jig in their own promotions, never the barrel handle.

this deal is NOT a dewalt promotion. if it was, you'd see the same deal at acme, maxtool and other vendors. this is just HD trying to move some product so they can show pretty charts to their shareholders at the end of the quarter.

if you see 1 SKU for all the items in the bundle, then no. there is nothing to hack. cash registers can't split a single SKU. as far as the POS system is concerned, it's 1 single item being sold. cash register won't let you return half of this bundle for the same reason it won't let you return half of a snickers bar

you can only hack things that show up in your cart or on your sales receipt as MULTIPLE SKUs. this was pretty obvious to me on day 1 that they started doing these BOGOs. i don't know why people are still struggling with this
