Here's my mini review if you're on the fence about picking this up.

As a long time FE fan, you could pass on this game and you wouldn't miss out on anything spectacular. The only reason to get this game is because, well, it's Fire Emblem and to scratch your tactics itch.

The new engage system adds a different element of playing style and strategy to the game. There are a total of 12 different emblems you can equip to your characters in the game and each has their own unique special ability. Emblem Micaiah, for example, once engaged allows a non cleric unit to be able to use healing abilities. Her special ability is sacrificing all HER health to heal all units within range.

Another Emblem, Sigurd, once engaged allows you to travel GREAT distances. You can literally cover almost half the map with his ability. Paired with someone with high MOV (Calvary/Wyverns/Griffins) and you can set up some amazing strategies and wombo combo.

The emblems and new engage system are definitely new and refreshing to a rather stale franchise and that's about the only high point of the game. The story is average at best and the dialogue, at times, is extremely cringy and I find myself skipping a lot of the scenes making this one of the more forgettable stories in all of FE.

I've beaten the game on hard and finished a maddening run. After doing the maddening run, I pretty much stopped playing altogether and sold the game after. If you're a long time fan and REALLY itching to play a tactics game, get it. $25 is a good price point that you'll definitely get enough enjoyment out of it to say you got your monies worth and be able to sell it and return some of that investment.

Can you screenshot the price? I like to see if BB will price match the $19.99. Thanks

Might not work, looks like all the games that were sold out earlier are back at higher prices. Pokemon snap was $24 now $29. Warioware was $15 now $24. Still doesn't hurt to try I guess

Thanks for the great review. Very helpful.
How about Three Houses? I believe in general Three Houses got better reviews than Engage, right?

I don't really pay much attention to critic reviews so I'm not sure how 3H reviewed in comparison to Engage but I, personally, would rate 3H higher. The story is far superior and the characters are more memorable than most of the characters in Engage. 3H also offers more replayability due to the game having 3 different houses with 3 different paths.
