  • This deal works out to $15 per month. A nice offer since Mint Mobile typically only offers this sort of promotional pricing on shorter duration plans.

I had Mint for one year until about 6 months ago. Two things made me switch to US Mobile: data prioritization and extra fees significantly increasing the price at renewal.

Data prioritization: I live in a semi-rural area, so the vast majority of the time this wasn't an issue. However, occasionally on weekends when people were home my phone data would slow to a crawl. Where it became untenable was during power outages (including lengthy ones during natural disasters). My phone data was literally useless. I couldn't even check the weather apps. This was my #1 reason for switching to an MVNO that included priority data.

Fees: US Mobile charges you the stated price, inclusive of taxes and fees. Mint's price was much higher than expected due to taxes and what seemed like extraneous fees.

So far I have much preferred US Mobile. Even though I have to use the Verizon network (slower data speeds) in order to get priority data, I haven't had any issues and it's still plenty fast. During the last major power outage I had zero issues with data. I plan to keep them when it comes time to renew.

Not really! There is a $25 "recovery fee" and other fees which might bring the mint deal within a few dollars of the visible one

When you go to this page, it states at the bottom T&C this is only for new customers. If you login to your account and try to find the discounted plan it is non-existent. If you know a workaround please let us know. Thanks.

Just an FYI for people already on a plan and are about to renew or people who are near the end of their 3 month trial plan, I called their retention department and was able to save $40 on my plan renewal. I'm on the 15 GB plan for $240 and also had a $45 referral credit. I ended up paying $179 after taxes / fees for 12 months of 15 GB. I also asked them about my mom's plan that I had referred her to recently (I got $45 and she got $15). They were able to apply a 4 months free promotion and an additional $60 off so she was only charged $79 after taxes and fees for 12 months of 5 GB. She doesn't use her phone much for data but it's hard to beat at only around $6.50 per month.

I've enjoyed their service this past year. I get gigabit speeds at my home (over 1,000 mb/s dl) using cellular data (not wifi). Just sooo much better than the poor signal / service I had with Verizon while also paying $90 per month at Verizon. I wish I would have switched to one of these lower priced companies years ago... would have saved me thousands.

Edit: I called their customer service phone number at 1-800-683-7392 and hit prompts 3, then 2, then 1 to get a human on the phone. It takes you to their technical support but you can just ask for the retention department and they will transfer. The lady on the phone in retention was able to apply these discounts while on the phone but you will need to have payment method ready in your online account for them to apply the credits.
Does it reset the clock for the existing one or add on to it?

It adds to your existing plan so you would go through your existing plan that you already payed for and it will switch to the new plan after first one ends.

Is it possible to cancel before 12 months without charges? Might be moving in a few months and don't want to get stuck with bad coverage

Yes, but there's no prorated refund. You've prepaid, you can leave any time. If you're not committed for 12 months then there are 3 and 6-month plans available.

Target recently, may still, had 3-month plans for $30 and $45 (20GB, UNL).

Wish I could take advantage of this but I've been with them for a couple of years.
That being said, I am very happy with them.
I never have reception issues and I'm spending so much less than I was with T Mobile!
How is the data speeds?
Are there activation fees??

It looks like USM's plan only includes "10GB of premium data".

My current plan is with RedPicket and I would like to enrolled with Mint. How can I keep the phone number same? If I keep the phone number same and later wanted to change the phone number, would I have been charged for that?

After 1 year, they will continue honoring this plan with same rate or it depends, I was just trying to avoid have some hassle after 1 year to find another deal like that or get stuck with full price next year?
