This would be tempting for me if it were at least $100 cheaper. Hard to justify paying an extra $300 for this compared to the regular Pixel 9 from Mint when the MSRP difference is only $200. I'd like the 5x telephoto lens, but not that bad.
Coming from the 7 pro (from last year's crazy $199 flash sale deal) I find myself using the tele lens way more than I thought I would. Personally holding out for another similar deal on the 8 pro, whether that's through mint or someone else.

Apple is an evil company, I can not understand why other manufacturers would stoop so low to copy all the bastard moves that a company like Apple does! What the engineers are like "hey, Apple eliminated the headphone jack, let's copy that". "Hey Apple doesn't have a memory card slot and consumers would never want to add an SD card right?" F Apple!
You guys truly have an apple hate boner, like google is some sort of bastion of all that is good and holy and totally are pro consumer and anti corporation.

We're here to discuss the deals, not your moral high ground.

I'm not defending Google as a company, but at least with Pixel phones you can run a completely de-Googled OS if you so choose with or without full root access. You completely own the phone.

With Apple, you get a seat in their walled garden, and the limits of your experience are whatever they decide.

Guess I wasn't looking. Once you go S24 Ultra, you don't go back.
Yeah but Pixels give you 90 percent of the experience for half the price.

I got the pixel 7 pro last Xmas with 1 year of service as a new customer for $250 with 20gb monthly and am very happy with it 😁
I did the same deal! ThnX to Slickdeals!
A month ago I 'missed' slipping the Pixel 7 pro into my jacket pocket & it fell to the linoleum floor. Ballistic Case, screen protector, but something inside at the bottom of the screen came detached and I had a line cross the bottom. Then the touch screen started failing so I went back to my old Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
I hate to say this as I do not mean to fan brand war flames.. BUT.. The Galaxy is soooooo much smoother. Polished. It just feels and acts 'better'.
I have a deal alert set on the s24 Ultra but with the S21 working so nice, I am in no rush. There. $.02

Not everyone likes putting their stuff in the cloud. I would rather have a micro SD but that's not much of an option anymore thanks to Apple.
Phones without SD card expansion slots are theoretically more secure against hacks and keep your phone data safer from exposure to someone with physical access to your phone. That's why I'm ok with SD cards going away on many phones. But there are still plenty of mid tier phones out there with SD card expandable storage options.

I'm not worried about my pictures being hacked, I'm worried if something happens to the cloud for some reason all of my pictures over the years will be gone forever. And there's no reason a flagship phone in 2025 can't have a SD card slot especially given what that cost. It's just a move to save money and make more money.

Wait, so you're saying if you lost the phone and then someone got it and removed the SD card? Why couldn't it be encrypted? Also, the point others are making is how cheap it is to add it, and if you are worried about that super low chance and super low risk situation then you individually could opt to not use an SD card, but removing it completely isn't about safety. It's about forcing buyers up the pricing ladder.

I'm still in the camp that 128 is plenty for me; larger storage doesn't prevent the need for external redundancy. But I get the point that it should probably start higher. All that said, data security isn't a foundational part of why it was removed.

I agree removing the sd card slot forces people to pay extra if they want additional storage, 💯

Yes and... The ad slot is an additional attack surface if someone wants to access or infect a phone. Malware or an access hack can be inserted on a microsd card to hack a phone. If you're not worried about that, it's fine, but some people like to have one less attack surface on their device if they use it for secure purposes, like MFA or 2FA code generators.

That said it leads to a convenient way for phone sellers to say, we're protecting you by removing the SD card slot, now pay us more money for storage.

Wish it was 256 GB at least. 128 GB on a flagship phone in 2024/2025 is a felony.
moto edge 2024 is on sale with 256gb storage which asked for $65 plus tax for new user of Total Wireless.
