Probably a combination of the USB-C charging port and the new drivers is my guess. Can't make it submersible with an open port/plug.
I am pretty sure you are correct on this. They traded some water resistance for better sound and standard charging. As is evident in this and most other discussions, the USB-C charging is super popular and many people saw the proprietary charger ass dealbreaker.

Based on the feedback about the improved sound and the USB-C convenience, I don't think they will be in a hurry to get the rating."back up" as the other poster mentioned.

And frankly, for their. Intended use, an IPx5 rating (protection against water jets) seems reasonable. If your requirement for sweat resistance is IPx7 (immersed in a meter of water for 30 minutes), you may wish to consult medical professional.

I don't think they're set up to ship from areas where they don't have a retail presence. Keep in mind they specialize in appliances, furniture, etc. Their checkout process is probably set up to only ship to locations with a store in the same state or metropolitan area
Shipping is free. There's literally no reason for them to not ship. And bad form for them to wiggle a carrot that applying for an NFM card will change things magically.

Best Buy may have briefly had the v1 or a cheaper Shokz model, they most certainly did NOT have the v2 for $99. The v2 doesn't even come in blue.
They do have a steel blue version of the V2 at Best Buy, I got it during black Friday. Model: S820-ST-BY-US-326

V2 solved the vibration problem and added usb-c charging, but after trying it out, I realized that it simply doesn't work in loud environment, even if you're running fast on the treadmill, you won't be able to hear properly.
I haven't tried the V2 but I had the V1s and I would use them with Loop ear pieces and it was a perfect combo. The loops turned down the external noise just enough what I can still hear my surroundings some, the "noise" is muted, and I can talk with them. This then amplifies the sound from the bone conductor. It's even more amplified if you wear ear plugs all together but that defeats the every day use of these.

I also have the OpenFit ones and unfortunately you can't use Loops with them because they don't have bone conductors. This is a drawback for me when cycling because the Loops takes away the wind noise and surprisingly amplifies important sounds and voices, but I can't hear music.

I'm going to assume that using Loops with V2 would reduce the open air sound but amplify the bone conductor, making it better in louder environments where you don't want to wear noise canceling in ear pods.

Edit: I read that the bone conductor part of the v2s aren't as good as the original, so if you're looking to have the bone conducting part be as good as the original, don't go with the v2s. The mix in one seems like a good idea for someone using them in not so loud environments, but for mix uses, it would be better to have a bone conductor and a open fit, separately, if money allows

Black Pro 2s are sold out. Orange Pro 2's a few left pending locations but won't ship to most states at shipping step. www.nfm.com/store-locator?intpl=footer

I bought the best buy deal at $149 for OpenRun 2 during black friday Model: S820-ST-BY-US-326 to cover me while my V1s were being replaced for warranty. The open run 2 are good enough sound quality that I've replaced my neck earbuds with them - theyre a massive step up in sound quality from v1. They're my work podcast and music device so that I can also have awareness of people around me. I'm a long term user of the open run pro v1 having 3 sets. Of my 3 open run v1's I've replaced two under warranty (left speaker would go out over time). They seem to die just right before the warranty expires so I would setup a calendar reminder for 23 months from purchase to make sure you could use a replacement. I use open run v1s for about 1.2 hours per day for running, they've held up well.

Be aware that OpenRun Pro 2 for the most part are NOT bone conduction headphones anymore. So, yeah, if you plan to use them only in a quiet office or home then great, you'll get sound quality improvement. However, they are now basically useless for any somewhat noisy environment - you'll simply not hear anything: bone conduction barely works and max volume is very low (much lower than OpenRun or OpenRun Pro 1). So, no bike riding etc.
For me, personally, OpenRun Pro 2 represent a HUGE downgrade. I'd recommend anyone thinking of buying these to try them on at BestBuy first.

No, Costco has regular OpenRun, not OpenRun Pro or Pro 2 (like these). However, if you are buying them for outdoor activities then they will be not only much cheaper but also much better than Pro 2.

Bone conducting headphones are perfect for the cases when you want your ears to be opened to hear everything nearby normally - outdoor activities (running, cycling etc.), work in the office etc. - and the same time be able to clearly hear the headphones. Also, they are very comfortable, barely noticeable - ears don't feel stuffed, get hot etc. You can even plug ears with earplugs for noise cancellation and still hear headphones perfectly. However, OpenRun Pro *2* are not really bone conduction headphones anymore, they are just open air headphones.
BTW, sound quality is not that bad, especially on Pro / Pro 2. Think SiriusXM. Perfect for audiobooks and podcasts and IMHO good enough for background music.

Regular OpenRun are 100% bone conduction headphones, they don't have regular speakers. Because of this they have somewhat worse sound quality (for music - speech quality is perfect) but higher water/dust resistance rating (IP67 vs IP55). They also have a bit less of a battery life (still 8 hours is pretty good IMHO). These are the only differences to OpenRun Pro.
OpenRun Pro 2 differs from both - mostly uses regular air conduction, USB-C charging (a minus for water resistance and ease of use IMHO - magnetic cable on OpenRun / OpenRun Pro is great), significantly (like 25-30%) reduced maximum volume.
