Fyi, there are various compatibility issues for the android model. It states it's compatible with Android 12 and newer, but buried it says there are several (popular) chipsets that have various issues. I have experienced those issues with my Pixel 7 and 8 Pro.l and can no longer use it.

I bought this for personal use to check my home yearly. I found the resolution really disappointing. Topdon sells at a similar price point without the deal but with much better specs imo. With the deal it's more reasonable but I wouldn't prefer it.

No it's not good for people in the woods.
This along with all phone thermal units are designed for <10ft only. They use different sensors than those cheap hunting units that designed for detecting thermal signals further out.
Different products different purpose. These are great for electricians and professional users conducting inspections but NOT for hunting or surveillance.

I bought a FLIR handheld thermal camera (not a model that attaches to a phone) with the same 80x60 IR sensor resolution and found it to be perfect for finding hot or cold spots and find ducting inside drywall. It's sensitive enough to see footprints left behind by someone walking barefoot.

EDIT: I should have mentioned I bought my FLIR in 2015 because the market has drastically changed since then. Amazon has thermal imaging cameras for as low as $99 now. That only gets you 32x32 resolution, but there are several models with a true 128x128 thermal imaging resolution for under $200. That's exciting, perhaps someday soon our phones will include a built-in thermal imaging sensor.

Came here to say this. The real SD is paying nothing and checking out the camera as needed from your library!
That's not a camera... That's a single point IR thermometer. Great for what they are used for. But not the same as a thermal imaging camera. Try again.

I've had a Hikmicro E1L for a few years. I brought it deer hunting with me this year to see if it would help tracking a wounded deer. Didn't get a chance to try that but I did test it while I was hunting. I was able to "see" deer at 70-80 yards. They were only little dots on the screen but it did pick up their thermal signature. Not real practical but it did help me pick up a deer that I did not initially see visually. But no, you're not going to be able to make out what animal it is. The only thing that would put out a big enough heat signature at a longer distance is a deer for me (barring some random dog maybe). I could see squirrels on it at 30 yards still though. I still think they'd be helpful for tracking wounded animals but I haven't been able to confirm that yet.
I bought thins one at the end of Nov for $350 for the same reason. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1
I haven't been able to test use it for its intended purpose yet, but at last I know I'm not overlooking a deer that's looking at me in the woods. It didn't occur to me before I got it, that I cannot look through glass with it (it just reflects the heat signature of whatever is in the reflection).

80x60 thermal resolution is laughable for this price, as I remember these don't even have 20-30fps refresh rate like their competitors do.

IMO the thermalmaster P2 is a much better buy, slightly more money but it offers 256x192 thermal resolution at 25fps. I've been using one for a few months now. It also has no internal battery and just runs off your phone directly.

I bought this exact model in 2019 for $150 from the same manufacturer. How is this a deal? It's literally the exact same tech from 5 years ago too

Bummer y'all, you'll have to find something else to track the animals you've only accidentally maimed that will probably die a slow, painful death from infection.

Side note, this thing does work well for IDing hydraulic issues.

They have newer versions now, but this is the oldest kind they still sell. They are up to Gen 3,so you may not realize has been updated over the years.

With that said though, I think people under estimate the need for resolution. Been using for years and it works fine. Their pro model has "double the resolution" and is over 2 x the cost.

I think people don't understand the use for this and expect the thermal to work like call of duty. Lol.

They have a "7 of 9" edition though!

Great catch! I got mine in 2023 for 180 and that was a great deal at the time. I haven't seen these go on sale often.
