Get a dewalt stealthsonic if you use it regularly and value your hearing. I got one recently per another SD thread recommendation and it's incredible how quiet it is.

The 16 gal is huge and I found it wayyy too cumbersome to use in the house. I'd recommend going a size or two down even if they're the same price or even cost a little more.
Even better, they have a variety of filter options including HEPA. I've had 3 ridgid shop vacs in 30 years only managed to kill one because I used it for water too frequently they are inexpensive but really do the job. https://www.homedepot.com/p/RIDGI.../318553040

I've had the 14-gallon version of this for a few years (which I got for a similar price thanks to a Slickdeals post). Did a bunch of research beforehand and you really can't find a better shop vac at this price point. Lots of power, big 2.5" hose, easy returns/replacements at HD, etc.)

This is huge and you'll regret it. Get the smaller one. The roughly 6 gal one is the sweet spot

This thing is LOUD! And the exhaust blows like a leaf blower straight out the back, so any dust, paper, etc. that is lying around will go flying into the air. Probably not the best form factor for someone concerned about HEPA for normal house use.

Yeah was going to mention the dewalt stealthsonic. Haven't experienced in person myself but heard from friends who were very impressed, and they don't strike me as guys who even care about noise levels on tools. Feel like its only a matter of time before others come out with their own quiet versions so these get cheaper.

My wife of course was like "I can't tell a difference", but if I'd done an A/B test she would've. It really is a huge difference.
