This is a good deal but I'm still holding out for the 780 to go back to $450 (but without the stand of course).

I have this saw, it's a beast & love it, it's heavy AF so don't really recommend moving it from job to job everyday but I do recommend upgrading the handle to the oem LED light for shadow line that comes standard on the 780 I believe, part is N515802 & 624730-00, yes it's a pricey upgrade at around $100 but well worth it, diy in 20 minutes

You can probably stack one of those 10% off digital coupons which can be purchased online if you know where to look for around $10 to slick it up, just a heads up, dust collection is dog sh*t on this thing lol & I'd still buy it again, upgraded mine w some 3d printed chute/shroud piece from shop nation store & its an 80% improvement

You can add a shadowline to the DWS779 to make it basically a DWS780. It's a pretty straightforward upgrade. The OEM parts cost around $100, or you can buy a kit. This video [youtube.com] shows the upgrade using this kit [mmtoolparts.com].

I did it to my 779 and it worked perfectly.

People are saying that Dewalt modified the DWS779 at some point such that you could no longer add the shadowline yourself. Also the DWS780 has stronger internals than the 779.

the 780 was 650 with the stand from home depot a couple weeks back
you can put the oshlin laser on it though.
