Ok, so a lot of questions above, and not many clear answers, so trying to help, here it goes:

- This is a single computer / multiple small devices Battery Backup, for about 5-10min runtime
- If you have an automatic generator, this is all you need is those 5min for the generator to kick in and keep things stable in the 30sec-2min cutover
- This will happily run an ISP modem/router for 30min+
- This is NOT enough for a desktop + Unifi setup (DM, PoE Switch with draw and APs), you want at least 1000Va if you want 5min, 1500Va if you want 15min+, very roughly. I recommend using a runtime calculator if you need specifics
- If your device beeps occasionally or the battery "doesn't last long, like a year", it's likely because either A) a bad battery, or B) frequent draws on the battery either through unstable utility power or overloading the draw of the device has worn the battery down faster than it should (don't plug vacuums/heaters/fans/etc into battery backups, folks)
- This is an EOL model but they will support all existing devices through their warranty, and APC is historically good at this - they are getting out of the low-end market though

Hope this helps people!

Good price but dies after 1 year. I had 3 of them and all 3 died just few months after one year.
It started beeping even there is no power outage. Turned it off for few minutes and then started working for a week or so and then beeping continues. After few cycles of turned off and plug back in it just dies.
Whenever you see UPS devices on sale like this, it's because the batteries are nearing their end of life. Even when lead-acid batteries are not in use they will eventually wear out.

I like these for my router/modem. I bought this last month. Came in a brown box.

Is there any reason why you couldn't replace the battery with an equivalently-speced LiFePO2 battery like this one?:
https://www.amazon.com/NERMAK-Lit...B0BX378P3N [amazon.com]
you can. that one fits the same. same terminals too. I'm just a fan of interstate batteries in general. I find them to last longer than any other brands.

Are you sure this is the correct battery? I have BackUPS 650 BN650M1 and that battery is only 2.01" wide. I think this is the same one. Searching for a replacement for this on Amazon leads me to think that it uses the 2.01" wide ones too.

Agree. I also have a BackUPS 900 which takes a more standard sized 2.56" wide, 12V 9Ah battery which are much easier to find.

Tip: Take the original battery out and tear off the APC label to see what it actually is.
my mistake. I thought this was the APC Back-UPS BVN650M1. which the battery I posted was 1 to 1 identical to size.

the correct battery would be this: https://www.apc.com/us/en/product...-warranty/
APC RBC154
https://www.amazon.com/Compatible...07BL561VT/

APC couldn't make it more confusing.

I also got an open box item - and it's manufacturing date 01/2022…. I took pictures of the box and the shotty packaging, and I'm reaching out to CS to return this. Not happy, and definitely not cool for B&H. Should have known better on this one - but hopefully they take care of me.

Is this enough to keep a desktop PC powered on for a few seconds during brownouts? My area has some power surges, where power flicks on and off for a second, would be nice to have something cheap just to keep PC from turning off.

Unless this is a very low-powered PC, you need something more powerful than this.

I would pass on this. I bought one from B&H last month and it came with a quality assurance receipt taped to the side of the unit, suggesting it was refurbished, despite no mention of this being a refurb item in the description. The receipt was dated sometime in summer of 2023, which means the battery was at least 1.5 years old if not older when I received it. See the 1- and 2-star reviews on B&H where other customers talk about similar experiences.

I would pass on this go for the non-discontinued BE600M1, which as far as I can tell is almost identical. I'm pretty sure the replacement batteries will be the same once the time comes.
All APC products that I've ever bought come with the QA report taped on. It's just something they do.

Ok I received the product today and can confirm it is a refurbished/used/open box item (based on the marks on the item). It has the inspection label on it from Apr 2022.

Same. They still claim it's "brand new" though. If they're brand new, I don't understand why they have to open it and break the taped seal on it.
