Hmm…we've gotten a new member deal every year for probably the last 10ish years. Alternating between my wife I and haven't had any issues at all.

I did it from the Sam's Club app. From there, click on the Account tab and scroll all the way to bottom. It'll say "Request to delete online account". I haven't checked from their site.

Costco's "free" delivery is an illusion. I've found that Costco.com prices items higher than when buying the exact same item in the warehouse. The shipping is in the mark up.
This is true for some larger items sold both in-warehouse and online, other items are the same price in both locations. I don't mind going by the warehouse, but both Sam's and Costco have a lot of stuff not sold in the warehouse.. having to pay shipping on Sam's is a deal breaker for me when there's that added fee on every one of those items online and no option to get it in store

For $20 I'll check it out. I drive 40 minutes to Costco, this is only 15 minutes away. If I don't like it, I go once, save a few bucks and never go back

If it rejects a new membership due to already used email address and you have Gmail, you can add the + symbol followed by any number and create an infinite number of email addresses. All mail goes to the main email. Example: [email protected] could become [email protected]. Not all websites except the + symbol as part of an email address, but it worked for me at Sam's a year ago.

Sams is great for the mobile checkout. Now they've implemented the overhead cameras at the exit door and the receipt checkers just waive you out, NICE! I'd like to shop at Costco but every day and every hour is a zoo inside.
Yep, biggest issue I have with Sam's locally, is the lack of rotisserie chickens. They make one batch (if the chicken guy happens to work that day), so I have about a 20% success rate of grabbing one.

I signed up a few days ago for $20 and then upgraded to plus for $60 to get the free shipping. Is the current deal still $20 + $60 for plus or is it $60 total from scratch? If so I may contact them to see if I can get my original $20 credited back.

Thanks everyone.

I change my email every year but it's the phone number that makes you hit a hard stop. You have to remove the number from your current account. Last year it would not accept 555-555-5555 on the website, but the app let me do it. I don't know if you can still do it now because I'm not going to try until I actually need to sign back up.

Remember that you will probably lose access to the account when you do this. One day you will log in and it will say "let us text you to verify that it's really you!". So save your receipts to pdf, etc, if you need them. This is also one more reason to skip Plus, since you will also lose any rewards. You'll have to decide whether dealing with that is worth having a cheap signup every year.

So I found out if any of your info was associated with a membership in the last 6 months you are blocked. It is interesting as I requested my account to be deleted so I can't renew even if I wanted to.

Confirmed its the phone # that stops a new acct.

I signed up with a google phone# and it went through.

Then after my account was all good, I updated the phone # to my actual one. A bit of a hassle, but $30 is$30.

Unlike others, Sam's will not honor a time away from membership as "new."
Interesting...... I have not been a member since 2023 and was unable to use this promo since my account already existed, the webpage said. I changed my email (gmail to icloud) and used my daughter's address and it worked. I then went into the new account and changed everything back to the way it was in 2023.

Exactly.
For example: Marina Del Rey dresser is 699.99 in store but 999.99 online.
$300 delivery from a warehouse 30 min away from me is not cheap.

We used the Plus membership for free shipping, which was great and had no minimum order $. They changed that last year to $50 minimum order or else $8 shipping applies. Really diminishes value of Plus for us
